2000-Present Clinical Professor: faculty member in the Department of Educational Psychology, College of Education at Texas A & M University. Joint appointments are in Special Education and School Psychology. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervision of undergraduate and graduate students in field-based settings, university service and research. Responsible for coordinating the Undergraduate Special Education Certification Program, supervising practicum and intern students, student advising, supervision of master projects, chair and member on master’s level committees, and cochair and member on dissertations.

1996-2000 Faculty member in the Division of Educational Psychology, School of Education, at the University of Missouri at St. Louis. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including Assessment and Evaluation; Personality Development; Foundations of School Psychology, Legal Issues and Ethics in School Psychology, Individual Differences in Childhood, Consultation in School Settings; Individual Assessment; Supervision of students in field-based experiences, internship, and writing projects; grant writing; research; and university service. Responsible for developing curriculum; establishing practicum and internship sites; student supervision; student advising; supervision of dissertations; and program review to meet state and national standards. Additional activities include team-based urban research in school settings, provision of training to parents, students, and community leaders.

Specialized in Behavioral Disorders and Learning Disabilities. Treatment modalities included individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and group therapies for children and adolescents. Interventions included close alliances with schools and teachers. Multidiscipline teams included Child Development Team, Diabetes Care Team, Craniofacial Team, and Cochlear Transplant Team. Additional responsibilities included consultation with schools, design of school based programs including crisis intervention, mental health training, and discipline management as well as supervision of students at all levels of training, including field-based, internship, post-doctoral fellowship, and residency.

2004 Johnson & Johnson Researchers Grant with Dr. Cyndi Riccio for $40,000 to investigate teacher referral patterns. Status: grant withdrawn

2001 to 2005 Verizon Literacy Grant, funded at $300,000, with Dr. William Rupley, Dr. Barbara Erwin, Amy Jones, and Adilia Frasier.

This grant coordinates the university, Blinn Junior College, and the consortium of all licensed day care centers in Brazos County and region to develop, deliver, and evaluate early literacy training to child care workers throughout the region, with follow-up investigation of treatment integrity and impact on the very young child’s early literacy skills.

2001-2003 Texas A & M Regents’ Initiative Collaboration Grant, funded at $60,000 with Dr. Clark Adams, and Dr. Thomas Linton, to investigate and compare distance learning with traditional learning on science extension courses. This grant required cooperation among two colleges and two school districts.

2001-2002 Texas A & M Regents’ Initiative Fellowship Grant, funded at $3,000. This grant allowed for development of materials for the delivery of a seminar type course to 200+ undergraduate special education majors per semester.
