Using Knight Cite



Step One: Choose Style

• Choose MLA from the left hand column (should already be selected)

Step Two: Choose Resource

• The rest of the left hand side give you options as to what kind of source you have.

• Choose the corresponding source: article, web document, etc.

• The format and questions will change based on what resource you choose.

Step : Fill in the Blanks

• Using the information you gathered on each source, fill in the blanks in the correct spaces.

• There may be a few spaces that have no answers, but fill in as many as possible.

• If you used the internet to find your source, please be sure to select “online” when it asks you where the source was find; this will then give you a place to enter your web address

• Once you finish, hit submit and the correct citation will appear.

Step Five: Creating the Bibliography

• Copy and paste each citation onto a blank word document.

• There must be the title Bibliography or Works Cited in the center of the top of the page in 12 pt. Times New Roman, plain font (not bolded, underlined, or italicized).

• The citations should be place in alphabetical order by the first word of each citation.

• Create a hanging indent for each citation. The first line is not indented, but every other line that follows, in the same citation, is indented once.

• All citations need to be double-spaced.

• DO NOT put an extra line (press enter) between each citation.

**** It should be double-spaced.

**** Do not indent the first line of each entry; indent every line after the first line.

**** The word Bibliography goes in the middle of the page at the top. It is not

underlined, bolded, or in a different font typeset or size than the rest of the information.
