A Few Tips

|DO |DON’T |

|alphabetize your sources | |

|use the first letter of the first word of the citation |DON’T number your sources |

|DON’T include: a, an, or the when alphabetizing your sources | |

| |DON’T indent the first line of the citation |

|indent the second and following lines of the citation (5 spaces) | |

| |DON’T separate your book and internet sources |

|use periods at the end of each citation |your works cited page should be one list of all of your sources |

|include dates for your Internet citations |DON’T include citations for Google, Wikipedia, or other search engines|

|double space all entries | |

| |DON’T use large fonts or graphics |

How do I cite the ABC-CLIO and World Book Online databases?

• At the bottom of each article, you can find the proper citation format for that source. It should look something like this:

O'Brien, Steven G. "George Washington." American History. ABC-CLIO, 2013. Web. 15 Jan.

2013.

Urwin, Gregory J. W. "Trenton, Battle of." World Book Advanced. World Book, 2013.

Here is an example of a works cited page.

• Notice how the citation format depends on the type of source (i.e. book, web site, internet database):
