Preface: The Ministry of Education (MOE) in the Republic of China (Taiwan) provides the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) for foreign Mandarin/Chinese learners including beginners to study at any accredited Mandarin center in a university or college in Taiwan.

Award Value: A fixed monthly stipend of NT$25,000 (about US$833, rate: 30), no other stipend.

Duration: 2 months (June to July or July to August, 2017), or 3, 6, 9 months from September 2017 to August, 2018.

Application: from February 1 - March 31, 2017

Eligibility: Applicants must be American citizens, above the age of 18, who possess a high school diploma or above, and demonstrate excellent academic performance. (Applicants of other nationalities need to apply to the Taiwan Consulates or Missions in their native countries.)

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. Applicants whose official residency is in the state of “Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia” should apply to Education Division of TECRO (4201 Wisconsin Ave., #20 NW , Washington, DC 20016). 2. Eligible applicant should send documents to the following address:
