Digital Communications Officer

AMCS National Office, Brisbane (preferred).

Dependant on skills and experience, plus Superannuation contributions of 10%.

Hours:

Full-time (38 hours per week).

Contract period: Initial one year contract, with a view to extension.

Reporting:

The position reports to the Senior Digital Strategist

Purpose of position: You will build awareness of and engagement in our work to conserve our oceans around Australia. The position requires a mix of communications skills and is focussed on supporting our digital marketing communications and evaluation.

You will work with our communications, fundraising and campaigns teams to implement our digital outreach strategy. You will analyse the effectiveness of our supporter engagement programs to deliver improved growth, engagement and campaign impact.

Main tasks and responsibilities: Support senior communications staff to drive online traffic (to websites, campaign actions and social media) Manage AMCS social networks (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). Produce powerful campaign content, such as images, memes and infographics. Grow AMCS' social media followers and deepen their engagement. Write, schedule and deliver emails in collaboration with campaigners. Create content for and optimise AMCS's automated marketing and supporter care programs. Work with campaigns, communications and fundraising teams to analyse and optimise our digital communications (eg: email & social media performance). Create and update written and visual content for our websites, and support the production and updating of content by key AMCS staff. Write and design printed materials. Provide communications support for fundraising, including appeals and automated marketing journeys. Provide communications support across our campaigns. Support the roll out of marketing and advertising campaigns.

In a typical week as our digital communications officer you may: Produce and schedule social media content for a campaign action. Write a campaign email to supporters motivating them to take action. Work with campaigners to identify and respond to a campaign moment, such as a media story or government announcement. Design a flyer for a campaign. Turn a TV news report into a video for social media. Report on the performance of social media channels and campaign actions. Collaborate with the communications team to develop and trial new ways of improving the effectiveness of our communications.

Essential Selection Criteria: Relevant degree or qualification in marketing, communications or related field OR minimum 2 years' experience in digital marketing or digital campaigning. Demonstrated experience in digital marketing, using email and social media channels for supporter growth. Demonstrated experience using web Content Management Systems. Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to write great supporter communications. Experience telling powerful stories through video, memes and other digital assets (using skills in graphic design, video production and editing). Initiative and demonstrated time management skills - you can work independently on multiple projects, problem-solve and manage your own work plans. Ability to uphold the AMCS values and work in a positive constructive manner with a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Selection Criteria: Commitment to protecting Australia's oceans. Demonstrated experience in a similar role in an advocacy organisation or NGO, or appropriate training and knowledge. Working knowledge of optimisation techniques to deliver the best digital user experiences. Understanding of SEO, PPC, email marketing, social media, and analytics tools. Experience with Customer Relations Management systems. Understanding of fundraising and campaigning practice.
