Extend and duplicate are different display settings for your computer.

Switching Between Modes

The easiest method of switching between the display modes is by using the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + P After pressing these keys the menu shown below will come up. Simply select the display mode you would like.

Computer only ? is the default option ? only displays on the main monitor Extend ? makes all of your monitors act like one big monitor extending the desktop across all of them. Duplicate ? makes all of the monitors display the same thing duplicating the desktop on each monitor. Projector only ? Displays only on the secondary monitor like a projector

You can also change the computers display settings in the display properties menu To access this menu the easiest way is to right-click on the desktop and select "Screen Resolution"

From the Screen resolution menu you can use the "Multiple Displays" dropdown to switch between the display modes.

Duplicate these displays ? will show the same thing on both monitors.

Extend These Displays ? will make all monitors act as one big monitor; displaying different things on each.
