Job Description

Title: Community and Business Partnerships/Dropout Prevention

Reports To: Deputy Superintendent

Job Function: Responsible for coordinating strategic community partnerships that

positively impact student learning and achievement, including school

business partnerships, volunteers, mentors, and special projects that

support district initiatives.

Supervise the implementation of the Dropout Prevention Program in

K-12 schools.

Responsibilities:

(Community and Business Partnerships)

• Develop, enhance and maintain effective strategic community

partnerships and alliances that enhance student achievement.

• Coordinate career partnerships with high school career academics that result in student internships and job shadowing opportunities

• Recruit and support mentor and volunteer programs

• Coordinate resource development with district’s foundation

• Serve as liaison to community groups and organizations

• Assure continuity of broad-based volunteer direction and support of the district through a program of community-wide cultivation, recruitment and motivation of high-level community and corporate leadership.

• Maintain an overview of district needs and issues.

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships and foster collaborative efforts with community nonprofit funders, businesses and community organizations.

• Secure funding from local resources.

• Plan, organize, implement and evaluate volunteer-driven fundraising campaigns.

• Serve as district liaison with community.

• Provide coordination of Partners in Education activities, including recruitment of new business partnerships.

• Provide coordination and support to district-wide mentor program.

• Coordinate and promote community education programs that benefit the citizenry.

• Serves as liaison to community groups such as Communities in Schools.

• Provide status reports to the Deputy Superintendent relative to the various programs, their impact on the schools and students, and the degree to which community members are involved.

• Adhere to high ethical standard and demonstrate professionalism when acting as an agent of the district.

(Drop-out Prevention Coordinator)

• Develop strategic plan and implement dropout prevention program according to the specific instructions of the request for proposal.

• Maintain a daily contact log on each participating student.

• Demonstrate high expectations for every student.

• Collect and submit requested data, program assessment/evaluations.

• Arrange, conduct, and/or facilitate monthly parent/family meetings.

• Make home visits when necessary.

• Identify community partners and establish working relationships.

• Attend professional development trainings with dropout prevention concentration.

• Communicate dropout prevention program information to administrators and staff regularly.

• Provide or refer student services and resources to meet all student needs.

• Recruit mentors.

• Develop an intervention plan to address assessed problems.

• Provide individual or small group counseling for students.

• Monitor targeted students’ attendance, and intervene when necessary to assure regular attendance.

• Establish a desirable working relationship with parent/guardian to assure constructive parental participation and involvement.

• Make referrals to community resources to meet students and their families’ needs.

• Confer and coordinate with the Principal, Assistant Principal, Counselors, and Teachers and other school personnel upon request.

• Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent.
