Dr. Dwayne Melvin Crew is Associate Vice President for Business and Finance at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia, a position he has held since April 2008. He is also vice chair for Professional Development for the Georgia State Council’s Society of Human Resource Management State Council. From May 2005 to October 2005, Dr. Crew served as the interim chief of campus police at Fort Valley State University. Other positions held at Fort Valley State University include Human Resource director/Affirmative Action officer and instructor.

Dr. Crew previously served as Human Resource director for Lowndes County Health Services, Inc., in Valdosta, Georgia, and as director of Internal Affairs for the Florida Department of Revenue. From 1990–1996, he was a Special Agent for the Office of Special Investigations, Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, and Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. From 1986–1990, he was the director of Military Police Operations at Avon Park Air Force Base in Florida.

Dr. Crew holds a B.S. in criminal justice administration from Park University in Parkville, Missouri, and an M.A. in public administration (human resources) from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned his doctorate of business administration-management from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida.

Fort Valley State University is a public, comprehensive, 1890 land-grant institution serving Georgia and the Nation. Founded in 1895 to serve black students, the University now accepts as its mission the provision of instruction, research, extension, and other public service programs for all segments of the population to achieve their personal, educational, and professional goals. The University is also committed to enhancing the economic, social, and cultural development of the regional community, the State, and the Nation as well as the international community.

Located geographically in the center of Georgia, Fort Valley State University has been identified as the evaluation point for students at Savannah State University located on the Atlantic Coast of Georgia, and was recently designated as the SAFE Center (animal shelter) for the State of Georgia. The University currently has more than 3,000 students and expects to grow to more than 5,000 students within the next 24 months.

Emergency Management has become a mission priority. The University’s emergency programs and plans must take into consideration safety for the University, city of Fort Valley, and Peach County.
