Letter to the Community:

Chrysalis and Emmaus Fair at the Gathering

Friday evening if you missed the gathering, here is a small sample of what you missed: a large crowd, one on one discussion on many flight, walk, and board tasks, of course, snacks, praise and thanks, praise singing, and Chrysalis team dedication. Some of the booths even had clergy giving away candy bars. You would think no one would talk to them otherwise.

These two also enjoyed visit time during the fair.

Be preparing for the upcoming flights and walks with your prayers and presence.

DeColores,

Dan Kirkling

Monthly Emmaus Board Highlights:

The board approved starting the Emmaus and Chrysalis website and obtaining the web address with expenses not to exceed $150 in 2004.

Future hard copy mailings of the newsletter will only be provided in 2005 to people on the mailing list who request it. See future articles on how to stay connected.

E-MAIL is "Economical Mail"

With over 2,000 members in our Columbus IN Area Emmaus Community, the cost for printing and mailing the newsletter has become a large expense. We do have the ability to e-mail the newsletter at NO EXPENSE.

The benefits are: You get the latest news faster, and you save the Emmaus Community $.50 a month.

Beginning in January the newsletter will ONLY be mailed to people who have filled out a form and given the information to data coordinator, Mike Riley. The board is encouraging people who take this option to make a $5.00 donation to cover the cost of printing and mailing for the year. The donation may be mailed to Mike with the form or put in the offering plate at a gathering. A subscription form is on page 2 of this newsletter. You will also be able to subscribe to the newsletter at gatherings. New pilgrims will receive the newsletter automatically until the January following their walk.

Please sign up now indicating either e-mail or US mail on the subscription form. THANK YOU!

2005 Gatherings

Scheduling of Gatherings for 2005 will begin soon. If your church would like to host a Gathering, please contact Dick Yeaton at 812-372-1866. Most Gatherings are on the third Friday of the month.

Scriptures for Men’s Walk #53 and Women’s Walk #54

This past year the Emmaus Board decided that all scriptures to be used on nametags and folder covers would be taken from the Luke passage describing the Walk to Emmaus, Luke 24: 13-35. For Men's Walk #53 Lay Director Dale Guse has selected the following verse: Luke 24:32. It reads: "They said to each other, 'Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the scriptures?" Jan Carlstrom, LD for Women's Walk #54 selected parts of verses 30-31: "He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and gave it to them. . . their eyes were opened and they recognized him."

IMPORTANT REMINDER

Set up for the fall walks will be on Tuesday, October 19th and tear down will be on Monday, November 2nd.

Mark your calendars if you can help on these days.
