OVC Surgery and Anesthesia Facilities

In order to ensure our DVM students are well-prepared for the demands of their future careers in veterinary medicine, we must develop a world-class, innovative program to enhance their technical skills. We are seeking to raise $9,000,000 to create a new surgery and anesthesia facilities that will raise the standard of care and provide the most advanced surgical and anesthesia techniques, diagnoses and treatment in Canada.

Impact Statement:

The Ontario Veterinary College is part of a top comprehensive university that has a long history of solving complex health problems in animals. We embrace the University of Guelph's learner-centered approach to education. With your support we will continue to develop future professionals ? our students ? to provide exemplary veterinary care in their communities.

The new surgery and anesthesia facilities will create interdisciplinary treatment spaces that incorporate multiple specialties. They will enhance our ability to manage serious illnesses that require complex surgeries or specialty treatments as is needed to reverse or prevent paralysis or blindness or epilepsy as well as many others. Together we will lead the way in making new discoveries and remain at the forefront of advanced medical care.

Goals:

The new facilities will include leading-edge technology with specialized areas for surgery, anesthesia and recovery. It will create the only dedicated suite for minimally invasive procedures at a veterinary teaching hospital in Canada, helping to train the veterinarians of the future. These facilities will have far-reaching impacts on both pets and pet owners.
