Charleston Culinary Tours Introduces a Mixology Tour

After recently adding an Upper King Street tour, Charleston Culinary Tours is pleased to bring a 1.5 hour Mixology Tour that introduces guests to some of Charleston’s best cocktail crafters. Each Mixology excursion stops at three watering holes where guests will meet the magicians behind the bars that are mixing the lowcountry’s most exciting, innovative and delicious drinks. Tour participants will have an opportunity to sample a specialty craft cocktail at each of the three stops after learning about the art of mixing cocktails and gaining insight into how Charleston’s mixologists are embracing traditional techniques while also taking ingredients from farm to tumbler. During walks between stops, a guide provides insight into Charleston’s cocktail culture, both past and present. Limited to 14 guests, advance mixology tour tickets are $40.00 per person and available at eTix.

“We had been talking to our various restaurants participants about the Mixology Tour for awhile,” said co-owner Oscar Hines. “It was just a natural fit to complement our culinary tours in a city full of great talent behind the bars.”

Meet The Team:

Glenn Morehead

After several vacations to Charleston over the years, I realized that there truly is no better destination and decided to call the Holy City my home four years ago. I packed up the truck, said goodbye to Atlanta, and have loved every minute of it. As an amateur artist, I set up my canvas in every area of the Lowcountry and in doing so was fortunate enough to meet several varieties of locals. There is no lack of “storytellers” in this town and I became so intrigued by the stories that I decided to start doing my own research. It led me down a path that has genuinely changed my life as it wasn’t until I studied the lost stories of Charleston that I sincerely fell in love with my new home. I feel honored to be able to share the extraordinary knowledge that I have learned and that these amazing lost stories will be told or generations to come.

Oscar Hines

Shortly after we began dating, my wife, Angela, and I came to Charleston and absolutely fell in love with the city. Somehow at that time we never considered moving to Charleston. Fast forward four long, cold winters in Chicago and we decided to move somewhere South. With fond memories of Charleston, we booked a Thanksgiving trip to the Holy City. It was as beautiful, romantic and charming as we remembered. We’ve lived in the lowcountry three years now and enjoy the city more each day from the climate, to the culture, to the food. Charleston is a hidden city and we discover something new about it every time we take a walk down the streets and alleys of the historic district. Charleston has a special, almost magical quality and we take great pride in showing our city off to guests whenever they come to visit.

Guilds Hollowell

A native of South Carolina and fourth generation of Guilds’ in the Charleston area, I grew up playing golf and music in our beautiful lowcountry. After high school I left South Carolina to attend college in Maine, where I learned about snowstorms and met my wife. We raised four kids on the coast of Maine and moved to the Charleston area in 2007 after our nest was emptied. I am honored to be a part of this endeavor which showcases all that is so much a part of my heritage and I know secrets about the Charleston area that you won’t find in the history books or on other tours! Enjoy Charleston Culinary Tours as the perfect avenue to explore and celebrate the best kept secret of the South.....Charleston.
