You may need your parent/carer to help with this. When you are happy with what you have written, get a fresh piece of paper or cardboard and fold it in half to make a card shape. Write your message inside the card…make sure you use your nicest writing! Now you can decorate the front of your card by drawing a picture or cutting out a picture from a magazine or printing an image. Give your card to the special person next time you see them! You can also make an ecard by following this link…. Go to and choose an interesting literacy activity to do! Have fun!LiteracyWatch ‘Why koala has a stumpy tail’. Retell the story to your parent/carer. Why do you think Koala did not want to help Tree Kangaroo? Do you think that Tree Kangaroo had the right to be cross with Koala? What could the two animals have done to help each other? Get a piece of paper and fold it into sections. Illustrate a cartoon strip about the main points in the story. You can add basic speech bubbles to your characters if you wish. Think about a different beginning to the story. Can you create one more panel for your cartoon strip with your new beginning? Which do you like better…your version or the one you heard online? Why? Ask your parent/carer which beginning they prefer and why. Log on to Reading Eggs and practise your literacy skills. challenge is to create a short talk about something you are interested in. It could be about a favourite animal, a place, a holiday you have had, a game you like or a movie you enjoyed. Think about some information you could share and, on small cards, write or draw some reminders about what you will say. You may need help from a parent/carer for this part of the activity. Practise your speech with an audience of soft toys, your pet or by looking into the mirror. Try to use eye contact, a clear voice and expression when you are speaking. Deliver your speech to your parent/carer. At the end, ask them if they have any questions about you topic. Can you create an artwork about your topic? You could draw a picture, paint, collect materials from outside and make a collage, find pictures online or in a magazine, arrange your toys into a scene…be creative!Visit the site…find something that suits you! LiteracyChoose a character from a book, story or movie. Think about this character and how he or she would have been as a baby, a child, an adult and an old person. Brainstorm ideas for what they would have been like in personality, what they looked like, the things they enjoyed doing etc. Make posters that correlate to each age group. Include facts about the character and a drawing to support your ideas. For example, if you chose Harry Potter; as a baby he may have liked to cast spells to turn his milk into strawberry flavour, played with his toys by turning them into living creatures and wore onesies with witches hats and magic wands on them. Once completed, display your posters on your bedroom wall or the fridge and ask your parents/carers to offer feedback on your ideas. Can you add the coins that you have together? How much do you have? Do the same with the notes that you have. Do you have more money in coins or notes? Why? Look through a catalogue or online catalogue of toys, food, office products etc and identify some things you could buy with the money that you have. Can you find 5 things that you could buy? How much would it cost you all together? What is your favourite item? Why? Can you afford to buy it? If so, how much change would you have? If not, how much more money do you need? You may need to use a calculator for this! you have completed this task, please give all the money back and wash your hands thoroughly as money is not very clean! Well done! Go to and play a game that you like…have fun!Mathematics Create 4 posters, one for each season: Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. images, drawings, cut out pictures from magazines etc to help you describe what happens in each season. Write (or have an adult scribe for you) some things that you know happen during the season like the kind of weather, special celebrations, clothing you may wear, things you may do etcWhich is your favourite season and why? Ask your family which season they like and why? You could even ask to call your aunts and uncles or grandparents and ask them what season they like and why! Think about a holiday that you would like to go on and decide which season would be the best to go in. You may like to go skiing in winter or to the beach in summer. Act out what you are doing and see if someone from your family can guess what you are acting out and what season you are thinking about. Could they guess? Go to and choose an interesting maths activity to do! Have fun!MathematicsYour task today is to do some addition and subtraction with dice, playing cards, counters, marbles…in fact anything that you have that you can combine and separate. If you have dice at home you can roll a number, collect the correct number of counters, roll again and add the next number onto what you had. You can challenge yourself by adding an additional number to your dice making 10’s, 20’s, 30’s etc or you can use a calendar and randomly pick a number or look for numbers around the house to add. Check your answer by using a calculator When you are subtracting make sure that the largest number that you roll or find is the one that you subtract from! Ask if you can make a colour and shape pattern using something that you can dip in paint and press onto paper like cut up veges/fruit, stones, lego, buttons etc. If you do not have paint make a pattern using textas or coloured pencils. Display your patterns around the house…your family will be very impressed! Can you make some arrows and then draw a picture for each part of the water cycle and link them together? Or can you act out each part of the water cycle? Or can you tell a parent/carer about how the water cycle works? Here is another interesting link to a water cycle information page (you may need a parent/carer to help you with the reading of this information!) Water is great! It is also fun to play with! Find some things around the house that you think may float and some things that you think may sink. Fill up a bucket with water, select an item and decide whether it will float or sink. Test it by dropping it into the water. Were you correct? Make a boat out of paper. Do you think it will float? Will it carry anything? How much can it hold until it sinks? Have a fun time! Remember that exercise is important! Try Just Dance, Go Noodle and Cosmic kids Yoga! Make a circuit in your house, play with your toys, do some stretches, help around the house, wash the car and be active! Be kind to yourselves and your families.
