VIDEO DATABASE ASSIGNMENT

← Before you begin, use the attached sheets to obtain information for your database. Look up your favorite (or even not so favorite) movies at and find a good assortment of videos (click Videos on the left to get the appropriate page). These must be movies you have seen. Include movies from your childhood, such as Wizard of Oz, as well.

← Create a new database in Access and name it: Movies N Stuff by Your Name.

← Create a table first using Design View. For the fields use:

Movie, Star, Rating, Category, and Year

← Use an appropriate Data Type for each (For example, text for Movie name, Lookup Wizard for Rating, number for the Year)

← Use the Lookup Wizard to create your own Lookup Lists for Category and Rating. Be sure to type in the words exactly as they are shown on your sheet so you can run queries without any problems. You will have 5 ratings and 8 different categories (see attached sheet).

← Save the table as: Movies by Your Name

← Create an entry form using the Form Wizard for entering in movies to the database. Make it nice. Use the justified layout. Name the Query Form—Movies N Stuff Entry Form by Your First Name.

← Raise your hand so I can check your form and table to make sure they are created properly before going on. Lookup lists must work. Teacher initials:_____

← Begin entering the data using the entry form. Be sure to type in everything as shown on the handout and spell all names and titles correctly. Any misspellings can cause problems for running queries.

← Run a query that gives only the Movie Title, Rating, and Date. Include only the movies that came out in 2002. (HINT: Use the Simple Query Wizard to select fields, modify the design, set criteria for date as 2002). Save the Query as 2002 Movies by Your Name. Print the query.

← Run a query that gives only the Movie Title, Star, Rating, and Category. Include only Horror movies that are Rated R. Save the Query as R Rated Horror Movies by Your Name. Print the query.

← Save and exit the database.
