Easter Holiday Homework

Dear Parents

Next term we will be using the book ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl for a piece of writing assessment. Please could you read the book with your child or if they are able to then they could read it to themselves. If they have already read it then please let them spend time familiarising themselves with the book again so they can answer questions about the story. We will be looking at the characters of Mr and Mrs Twit and how they behave in the story. We will be asking them to write a character description of one of the Twits, a book review and they will also write their own ‘trick chapter’ so while you are reading the story please discuss the characters and the tricks they play on each other. Here are a few questions you could ask;

What sort of people are Mr and Mrs Twit?

What does he/she look like?

Can you find any adjectives that describe them?

Can your think of your own adjectives to describe them? (The more interesting the better!)

How do Mr and Mrs Twit behave in the story to each other? Think of words to describe their behaviour.

Are Mr and Mrs Twit nice or nasty? How do you know?

What do you think of Mr and Mrs Twit? Why? How do they make you feel?

What kind of trick would you like the Twits to play on each other?

Enjoy reading the book, the children always love this story!
