Role of WORK Unit

The primary role of Student Pedestrian Policy Unit is to provide administrative support to the Children’s Crossing & Road Safety Committee. The unit receives, researches and processes applications and requests relating to children’s crossings and student road safety.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Within the agency, the position liaises predominantly with personnel within State Traffic Operations, and Officers in Charge of Country Police stations as required.

External to the agency, primary contact is with the CC&RSC, and its member Agencies particularly Main Roads WA (MRWA), Department of Education & Training (DE&T), WA Local Government Association (WALGA), WA Council of State School Organisation (WACSSO), Catholic Education of Western Australia (CEOWA), and Association of Independent State School Western Australia (AISWA).

The position is also required to liaise directly with Local Police, individual Schools, recognised Parent Bodies and the Traffic Warden State Management Unit.

Decision making role

The parameters within which the incumbent operates are established by the position’s supervisor, however, within the given framework, the incumbent exercises independence in prioritising, organising and performing assigned tasks.
