What to expect on the fraction quiz:

• Simplifying fractions.

• Ordering fractions, using any method that works.

• Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and mixed numbers.

• Converting improper fractions into mixed numbers and vice versa.

• Solving word problems involving operations on fractions. You will not be required to solve these problems in any particular way, but your reasoning will need to be correct.

You will not be allowed to use a calculator. If your calculations become too complicated, it is very possible you are doing something wrong. The quiz should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Problems from the book to work on: 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 28, 29, 32 from 5.1; 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18 from 5.2; 3, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 18, 19, 20 from 5.3.

What to expect on the decimal quiz:

• Ordering decimals

• Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals.

• Converting decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals.

• Solving word problems involving operations on decimals.

You will not be allowed to use a calculator. If your calculations become too complicated, it is very possible you are doing something wrong. The quiz should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Problems from the book to work on: 6,11, 14, 15 from 6.1; 4, 5, 12, 13, 27, 28 from 6.2.

You will be allowed to retake both quizzes until you get a score you are satisfied with.
