Winter Practicum Opportunity at the Princess Margaret Cancer CentrePosition: Student Research Assistant – Statistical AnalysisDuration: January to April 2021; 35 hours/week for 12 weeks – can be full or part-time Location: ELLICSR Cancer Survivorship Centre, Department of Supportive Care, Princess Margaret Cancer CentreJob Overview: We are looking for a student with a background in epidemiology and statistics to assist with the statistical analysis of a related to the care experiences, unmet needs and psychosocial wellbeing of head and neck cancer patients and survivors. The work will involve conducting basic descriptive statistics and multivariable regression analyses. The student will be expected to participate as a co-author on publications. Desk space along with a computer and access to statistical software (e.g.SPSS) will be provided if needed. This position could also be conducted remotely. Stipend: $5000What you will be doing: The student will be working under the supervision of Dr. Jackie Bender, with guidance from a biostatistician. The specific activities include the following:Participation in meetings team meetings Descriptive statistics and univariable and multivariable regression analysesCreation of draft analysis reports along with tables and chartsCreation of a draft manuscript for publication.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree (minimum); Health service related Master's degree in progress, strongly preferred with training in epidemiology and statisticsRelated health service research experience (e.g. database design/set-up, data entry, statistical analysis of data)Highly motivated, with an ability to work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamExcellent verbal and written communication skills; Experience writing manuscripts preferredPrevious experience using data management (e.g., Microsoft Excel), statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS) Previous experience working in cancer-related research and/or with medically ill patients would be an assetInterested applicants, please send cover a cover letter and CV to Dr. Jackie Bender, jackie.bender@uhnresearch.ca by November 15, 2020. ................
