Discussion with Emily (19/03/20);Sites/Forums that will be considered for the final development of the project with Uttara can be seen below (Added notes by myself);aiyprojects., 2020. Voice. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 24 March 2020].The voice kit article is one of the few sites that clearly maps out the software, hardware and equipment needed for the Bluetooth speaker me and Uttara will create, with the added inclusion of what the box containing the speaker looks like before construction. The only negative to this article is it doesn’t provide measurements needed to create a 3D Printed ‘Internal Frame’ which will prove tricky and time consuming to figure this out by measuring the size of the original components (i.e. software etc).Despite this negative, it seems that if the kit was bought online then I can measure both the ‘Internal Frame cardboard’ and the ‘Speaker Box cardboard’ and write or draw it out so it can be applied further development in 3D printing so the possibility of using this site as a basis for the prototype that myself and Uttara will create is still a possibility.bluedot.readthedocs.io, 2020. Blue Dot – bluedot 1.3.2 Documentation. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 24 March 2020].The ‘Blue Dot’ site dedicated to promoting the Bluetooth Remote called ‘Blue Dot’ which can be found in the Python Library. This remote seems affective in controlling moving interactive prototypes like moving vehicles as well as turning things on and off without the need of pressing a button on the prototype itself. This might be considered for the final Interactive Prototype although there is still discussion between myself and Uttara about whether to play the music from the Spotify app or install two or three existing songs to the speaker (linking to the Processing code needing a specific song to be played for the animation to work) and then implementing this ‘Blue Dot’ app., 2020. . [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 24 March 2020].This site offers the downloaded programme of ‘Processing’ which will prove important for the Prototype that will be created between myself and Uttara as the Bluetooth Speaker will require a lot of coding both in relation to the functionality of the wireless speaker as well as creating an interesting coded light show which will be displayed on the raspberry pi touch screen place on the front of the speaker in sync with music being played.Despite Emily kindly sharing the link to this site, I’ll need to look at other forums and sites to get not just the right code layouts but also other downloadable programmes which link to the Prototype proposals myself and Uttara plan to implement for this project. This can be seen through research I done throughout Week 9 and 10 which is displayed in this word document.Sites/Forum I’ll not use for the project with Uttara;, 2020. Wekinator | Software for real-time, interactive machine learning. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 24 March 2020].Although this site is dedicated to offering users to create their own Musical Instruments, Gestural Game Controllers and other interactive systems, it doesn’t provide much information or relevance to the Interactive Prototype that Uttara and myself will create for this project as we wont be creating music or primarily focus on. Even though the online course linked to the site addresses programs and features that will be prevalent in the final interactive prototype I’ll look at other sources anyway due to time that needs to be spent on other areas linked to the prototype’s development (3D Printing etc).My own research into Sites and YouTube Videos;MechStuff, 2017. Tutorial on Bluetooth sensor HC05 with Arduino | Voice commands – YouTube. [video online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].Although the ‘Tutorial on Bluetooth sensor HC05 with Arduino | Voice commands – YouTube’ effectively showcases the what hardware and equipment is needed for this type of interactive prototype it won’t be further looked upon as it only focuses upon controlling LED lights rather than music. Despite this I felt it was worth documenting regardless as the use LED Lights was considered for the early development of the project with Uttara.David Watts, 2014. Arduino Bluetooth Audio Boombox Details and parts – YouTube. [video online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].This tutorial pinpoints a lot of the necessary components needed for the Bluetooth Speaker that myself and Uttara will replicate with clear functionality present throughout the ten-minute video. Even though it’s quite impressive how this boombox was created it proves after consideration that it would be too time consuming if it was to be physical built and after thorough research on my part the boombox appears much lower in quality and functionality than other tutorials or forums that explore the topic of creating a Bluetooth Speaker.create., 2017. Bluetooth Speaker w/ Music – Reactive LED Matrix – Arduino Project Hub. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].This site proved to me to come across as a more refined ‘Arduino Bluetooth Audio Boombox’ with a more appealing and professional LED display. Like the Boombox mentioned earlier it still proves to inappropriate to the protype myself and Uttara will create due to the absence of 3D Printing and how much time and components are needed to recreate this speaker with our own creative spin. Even though the project brief has changed with the focus being on making a tutorial it is still considered a priority both with myself and Uttara to create a creative prototype that is effective but not too complex. The lack of coding in this and other videos and sites also proves to be a big detriment as the coded animation/light show is one of the more important features of the Bluetooth speaker., 2017. How do you connect a Bluetooth speaker to an arduino?: arduino. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].First look at a reddit thread that attempts to answer a question relating to how a Bluetooth speaker can be connected to an Arduino. Despite a few responses from the Arduino community there isn’t any answers the sufficiently contributes to the prototype that myself and Uttara will create. I felt it was worth documenting for this module anyway like a few other sites and forums in this word document. The reddit post does suggest a possible route linking to the ‘processing code’ research I done which will most likely be implemented in the final prototype with concept of storing specific sounds (or songs) for the speaker to be played, making the coded animation/LED lights function accordingly.Link below provides one of the ‘receiver boards’ which might prove to be useful for the speaker if Arduino is considered a key component for the final prototype;, 2020. : Bluetooth Audio Receiver Board – Wireless Stereo HIFI Amplifier Sound Module: Home Audio & Theater. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].5toCode, 2016. 5 Minutes to Code: Computer Art 2 “Processing” – YouTube. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].The first tutorial on how to code on ‘processing’ proved to be very informative on how the programme works. Despite these positives this video only expands on user interaction via a mouse moving across the screen which is not what is proposed in regard to the prototype that is being pitched for this project. During the period I spent finding research materials I found several videos and sites that I feel manages to answer the question of how to make the processing code interact with music or sound., 2020. Browse Sketches – OpenProcessing. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].The section on ‘’ that presents a gallery of Sketches produced by other users via coding proved to be very interesting and insightful with a lot of the sketches original coding being available for copying by other users. Like the early tutorials I overlooked on coding however this page on the site only showcases coded animations that work with the interactive via a mouse connected to a computer rather than any sketch that interacts with sound or music.sonic-, 2020. Sonic Pi – The Live Coding Music Synth for Everyone. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].Even though this site is thorough in how music can be created by code, this doesn’t link to the prototypes proposition of using music to generate digital animation through coding. I felt it was worth documenting anyway for if there were time and more people in the group despite myself and Uttara this would’ve been something that would’ve been considered. I.e. create original music rather than using existing copyrighted music. It’s a shame that there isn’t time to produce the music as it would’ve added a unique character to Bluetooth speaker and most likely would’ve made the coded animation be more in sync with the music which might prove to be tricky when I and Uttara plan to incorporate a song or two to the project.Might be worth copying the code on this site the displays existing music with added tweaks from myself and Uttara for the interactive prototype.learn., 2020. Adafruit Learning System. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].Although this site doesn’t provide much information on how the interactive prototype (bluetooth speaker) will be put together, it did prove to be interesting and refreshing to look at all the possible interactive pieces that can be created using Raspberry Pi and Arduino. This slightly reinvigorated my creativity for the project which was up and down during the development due to the regular shifting of ideas for the prototype and current issues that are affecting university and country at the time this was written.Programming for People, 2017. Arduino – Processing: serial data – YouTube. [video online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].Windkind0, 2012. Processing Audio Visualisation – YouTube. [video online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].This video best depicts the Raspberry Pi touchscreen presentation myself and Uttara would like to replicate for the interactive prototype (Bluetooth Speaker) albeit formatted in our own original presentation., 2007. Processing 1.0 – Processing Discourse – Synchronizing generative video + audio. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].This forum was linked to the ‘Processing Audio Visualisation – YouTube’, expanding on the coding used to generate the visuals that was present in the original YouTube video. Other topics were also addressed with answers to questions related to the coded animation itself. This will be seriously considered for the final development on the tutorial as well as experiments that I could create with original coding.Manuel Kretzer, 2016. tutorial-06_processing-soundmapping2.pdf. [pdf] Digital Crafting. Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].The PDF provides a more in-depth step by step guide on how to create interactive code that functions with music. This will be further looked upon over the coming weeks on the blog via experimentation and documentation., 2020. Bluetooth Speaker With Music Visualizer: 10 Steps (with Pictures) – Instructables. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].Another Bluetooth Speaker like the ‘Arduino Bluetooth Audio Boombox’ with a different set up and presentation which was sent over to Uttara to have a look over. Like the , it wont be looked upon further due to the same reasons despite the more accessible links to equipment and software needed to construct the said speaker (some features couldn’t be accessed either like the coding for the LED lights).blog.dragonlab.de, 2016. Into Oblivion: A Music Visualizer made with Processing – Tobias Makes Games. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].This provides another programme that offers control of creating unique coded visualisation not too dissimilar to the ‘tutorial-06_processing-soundmapping2.pdf’. Although I felt this site was worth referencing it became clear that I could not download the program due to notifications warning of the program bring potential risk to my computer, therefore I will not implement this further for the project. The Harvard reference that can be seen showcases the coding that was used to achieve the interactive animation from the ‘Into Oblivion: A Music Visualizer made with Processing – Tobias Makes Games’ site.gist., 2020. A Processing Music Visualizer GitHub. [online] Available at: <; [Accessed 25 March 2020].(27/03/20) Despite the events that are occurring during the time I written this down I still attempted to look more into the sites recommended by ‘Andy Marshall’ from the 3D department of the university. The links can be seen referenced below with added thoughts. These links were also sent to Uttara so she can have a look as well;autodesk.co.uk, 2020.
