Project Due: Thursday, November 20 (Hard copy and on Turnitin)

Band Medieval Night, Thursday, November 20, 6-7 pm

I. Written Projects

A. Research and compose a paper or Power Point/Prezi presentation on one of the following topics:

Chant

Mass and accompanying musical settings

Medieval composer(s)

Influence of architecture on music

Instrumental music in the Medieval period

B. Papers and presentations must include a bibliography in MLA format.

II. Creative/Performance Projects

1 Performance of a Medieval composition (include program notes and bibliography in MLA format)

A. Make a costume from the Medieval period (include historical notes and bibliography in MLA format)

2 Perform a shortened version of a morality play (include program notes and bibliography in MLA format)

1 Create a children’s book on Medieval music (include a bibliography in MLA format).

2 Research and cook Medieval foods (include program notes on food in this period along with your recipe and a bibliography in MLA format).

3 Medieval Music Listening Journal

Select five compositions from the Medieval period

Listen to each composition three times.

Journal after each listening about the music itself (musical elements) and your reaction to the music.

Include a bibliography in MLA format.

4 Create an illustrated manuscript on some Medieval musical topic. Include a bibliography in MLA format.

All presentations and performances must be from five to seven minutes in length. Points will be deducted for variances from this requirement.
