Poetic License Show

Challenge:

In a small group, write a television studio script that involves multiple cameras, multiple talent, multiple microphones, and music. Students will turn a song into a work of poetry.

Guidelines:

• You must use two cameras

• You must use at least two FS GFX (slate & PowerPoint)

• You must include the use of CD music

• You must use the teleprompter during recording

• You must choose a song that we have in our library

• You must show that there is nothing inappropriate contained in the song lyrics

Your script must:

• Be formatted in the proper two-column style

• Use the following structure:

1. Show open (our standard PTV News Open)

2. Introduction of the show using one anchor at the news desk.

3. Introduce the special guest. You may give a brief history of the song or band.

4. The special guest will perform the song lyrics.

5. Q&A session

6. Anchor concludes by thanking the special guest.

7. Show wrap/music (your actual song)

Your script must not:

• Contain inappropriate material.

• Take fewer than two minutes to complete.

• Contain any spelling errors or typos.

Procedures:

• Decide on rolls for the project.

• Choose an appropriate song that we have in our library. Use to search our library.

• Choose a verse or chorus of the song to read as poetry. Try to use :20 to :45 of material.

• You may use the sample scripts as a template to create your show.
