PS Classics, the label dedicated to the heritage of American popular song, will release OPPOSITE YOU, the new album from Broadway stars and married couple Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley on November 8, 2005.

Drawn and expanded from their acclaimed evening of duets, first presented at Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series in October 2002, OPPOSITE YOU features sixteen tracks ranging from playful (“Honeysuckle Rose”) to powerful (“Not a Day Goes By”) to richly romantic (“That Old Black Magic”), and embraces composers from Irving Berlin and Harold Arlen to Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim (the latter in a stunning and expansive five-song suite). OPPOSITE YOU also includes world premiere recordings of songs by the teams of Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty and Scott Burkell & Paul Loesel. Throughout, Mazzie and Danieley display the soaring voices, engaging charm, and natural chemistry that led the San Francisco Chronicle to call their performances “Broadway’s golden couple in music they were born to sing.”

Music direction and arrangements are by David Loud. The orchestrations – created expressly for this new recording – are by William David Brohn, Larry Hochman, Joseph Thalken, and Christopher Jahnke. The album is produced by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker.

Marin Mazzie received Tony, Drama Desk and Olivier nominations and won the Outer Critic's Circle Award for her performance as "Lily/Kate” in the hit revival of Kiss Me Kate. Other Broadway credits include Mother in Ragtime (Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics nominations), Clara in Sondheim’s Passion (Tony nomination), Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Into the Woods and Big River. On television, she has a recurring role on the CBS sitcom Still Standing. Jason Danieley made his Broadway debut as the title character in Candide, receiving a Theatre World Award, Drama League Award and Drama Desk nomination. Other New York credits include The Full Monty (also in London's West End), Floyd Collins, and recent starring roles in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn at Encores! and South Pacific at Carnegie Hall (airing on PBS in the spring of 2006). He and Mazzie recently performed together in 110 in the Shade (Pasadena) and Brigadoon (Reprise! in Los Angeles), and have sung together with major symphony orchestras throughout the U.S.
