Course Description:

All members of the research community are invited to the 2016 Research Conference on October 20 and 21 at the Wong Kerlee Conference Center.

Hosted by Research Affairs, this conference will help assure increased physician awareness about the benefits of research collaboration, and impart knowledge about specific ways to achieve such collaborations and make them more effective. The conference considers the collective research strengths at LLUH, and presents opportunities for these strengths to be strategically enhanced and expanded. Experienced investigators will share their insights on creating successful, innovative research, and why cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration were integral to such successes. We intend this Seminar to contribute to the growth and strengthening of research of our institution. John Husing, Ph.D., Inland Empire economist who has studied the local California’s economy for over 50 years is featured as keynote speaker. He will present how research, along with healthcare and education, impact the economy of the Inland Empire and beyond. Seminar presentations will cover collaboration, community research, international research, Adventist Health Study (AHS) data utilization, clinical research, resources to support research, tech transfer, and others.

Course Purpose and/or Objectives:

Upon completion, each participant will be able to:

Course Completion Requirements:

Successful completion is defined as:

1. Attendance at each presentation. Participant may not miss more than ten minutes of any presentation.

2. Provision of enrollment/CE information.

3. Complete program/speaker evaluation forms and return at the conclusion of the course.

Continuing Education Credits:

Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is authorized by the following to provide continuing education credit:

• Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. (ANCC).

• Loma Linda University Medical Center Office of Staff Development is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. LLUMC Office of Staff Development maintains responsibility for this program and its contents. This event meets the qualifications for 11.0 hours of continuing education credit for psychologists as required by the American Psychological Association.

• Loma Linda University School of Public Health is a designated provided of Category I continuing education contract hours for health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. The NCHEC Multiple Event Provider (MEP) number is CA0024. This event will be available for 9.5 MCHES credit hours.

• The Loma Linda University School of Public Health is a pre-approved provider of Certified Public Health recertification credits by the National Board of Public Health Examiners. This event will earn 9.5 re-certification credits.

• Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 00239, to offer this course for 11 contact hours.

• Respiratory Care Practitioners reciprocate with BRN provider number 00239 for contact hours.

• Behavioral Health Professionals reciprocate with APA
