Any dog not having required certificates will not be allowed to participatein the dog training/show.A copy of veterinarian certificate will be required at registration/training and kept on file.Required Vaccination:Rabies - within three years of show date (or valid vaccination)A valid certificate of veterinary inspection shall indicate all of the following:Whether the dog has been vaccinated for rabies by a licensed veterinarian.The date on which the dog was last vaccinated for rabies.The date on which the dog is due to be re-vaccinated for rabies.Highly recommended:DHL & Parvo Virus - within one year of show date.Corona and kennel cough (Bordetella)The fecal be checked prior to participation.Dogs should be heartworm checked and on preventative medicine.Equipment:For obedience/rally each dog must be equipped with . . .slip (choke) or buckle (flat) collar with no attachments (no name tags, rabies tags or license, etc.)6-foot leather, nylon, or web leash with only a metal snap attached, (neutral colors only)For higher level classes, official AKC dumbbells must be used. Jumps will be provided.Pinch collars, gentle leaders (halties/head collar) and chain leashes may be used for training classes, but will not be allowed for show competition. Prior to use, please discuss with dog project leader and/or fair superintendent.Electronic training collars of any kind will not be allowed.For showmanship, use of a show lead is recommended.General ParticipationNo dog may be shown/exhibited by more than one handler or in more than one obedience class.For show competition, dog project members must attend five Marathon County dog project training sessions in the current year, with the exception of grade 13 members who have prior dog show experience. Please discuss and submit any alternative training programs with fair superintendent prior to June 15 if opting out of 4-H training classes.No puppies under 6 months will be allowed in show competition but may participate in training classes.For safety of others in the class, if any dog shows people aggressive or dog aggressive behavior, the dog project leader / fair superintendent may deny participation in training classes and competition shows. Dog issues will be addressed on an individual basis.Always have control of your dog, but never hit, scream, or abuse your dog or you may be asked to leave the class/show.Any female dog in season may not attend class or show at the county fair, but you are encouraged to still attend.Visitors, parents, and prospective 4-H members are always welcome as long as they do not disturb the class.Clean Up: If your dog messes, you are responsible for your own clean up. Please bring your own clean up equipment.Treats may be used in training classes.
