There are other ways for students to get support as they prepare their research papers.



Instructors and students can electronically submit papers to this service. They can review the Originality Report for the submitted paper to correct poor citing and paraphrasing and avoid plagiarism prior to final submission. For further assistance with , please contact Brian Snapp at 570-941-4040.

Citation Assistance

The Writing Center actively collaborates with the Weinberg Memorial Library to better serve students. Students can visit the Research Services desk on the 2nd loor of the Library to get assistance with formatting their citations for their papers. Librarians are also available via email (askalibrarian@scranton.edu), phone (570-941-4000), and online chat available on the Library's website at scranton.edu/library.

Why a Writing Center?

The Writing Center is dedicated to assisting individuals who want to improve their writing skills, including brainstorming, dra ting, revising and editing, and documenting sources.

Why worry about writing?

Good writing skills are essential to succeed in college and beyond. Consultants will work collaboratively with individuals to explore rhetorical strategies to enable students to write e fectively.

Who will assist me?

Our sta f consists of adjunct faculty from the English Department and highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students from diverse majors.

What can I expect?

When you arrive, you and your consultant will engage in conversation about the assignment, topic, intended audience, and purpose of your paper.

When is the best time to At any time! Early in the writing process, you can meet with a consultant to go visit the Writing Center? over the assignment, to brainstorm, and to consider audience and purpose.

Further into the writing process, we can focus on concerns such as content and organization, development and support of ideas, revision, editing strategies, and proofreading.

Successful writers seek feedback early and o ten in the writing process.

How do I make an appointment?

You can make an appointment through the My.Scranton portal by clicking on the CTLE Menu, which can be found under the Student Services & Financial Aid tab:
