Is the Remote Learning Program completely online?The Remote Learning Program will be a blended learning model in which students receive a combination of learning opportunities to include online programs, interactive virtual lessons with teachers, and virtual meetings and discussions with teachers and other students. Performance assessments will also be utilized. Q. How will I register my student for the Remote Learning Program? All Hopkins County students will be able to register/enroll online through Infinite Campus for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents will be able to select the Remote Learning Program during the registration process. Q. Will my child still be considered as fully enrolled in Hopkins County Schools?Students will be fully enrolled in Hopkins County Schools. Students will have a teacher(s) that will provide lessons and support and monitor their progress. Students will still be considered enrolled in their current school/school within their attendance zone.Q. Do I have to register my student for the Remote Learning Program before the 20-21 school year in order to attend? Students may register at the beginning of the school year. Students who experience health concerns during the school year may contact school administration to discuss enrollment options for placement into the Remote Learning Program. Q. Will I be able to re-enroll my student in the traditional classroom if our health concerns are no longer an issue? Students will be able to return to the traditional classroom at the beginning of each trimester.Q. Can my student participate in co-curricular, extra-curricular, or sports if he or she is enrolled in the Remote Learning Program? The district is awaiting further guidance from state officials and the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.Q. How will my student’s progress be assessed and monitored in the Remote Learning Program? Teachers will monitor daily progress and grade assignments. Performance-based assessments will be scored according to a rubric. Parents and students will be able to track progress and student grades by using Infinite Campus Parent or Student Portal.Q. Who will provide my child instruction in the Remote Learning Program? Students will receive instruction from a teacher using an online platform.Q. Can I register my child for the Remote Learning Program if we do not have a smart device or an internet connection at home? A device may be provided to students without access to a personal device. Students without internet access may use WiFi hotspots set up at schools which can be accessed from the parking lot. More information will be provided to parents in need once distribution plans have been finalized. Students must have access to a device and internet to complete daily assignments, virtual lessons or meetings, and discussion groups. Q. Is my child still eligible for school meals?Yes, your child may pick up meals from designated school sites. Additional details will be released soon.Q: My child receives services through a 504, IEP, KSI, or GT identification. Will my child still receive services in the Remote Learning Program? Students will receive accommodations, modifications, extensions, and interventions as outlined in their personalized plans. ................
