The faculty of Education offers on-the-job training and practical assistance to students to acquire a wide range of educational knowledge and skills which are necessary in classrooms or teaching realities.

1. Outline

Nagasaki University consists of nine faculties and schools including School of Global Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Education, Economics, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies and Fisheries. There are about 80 teachers in the Faculty of Education specialized in Japanese, social studies, mathematics, natural sciences, music, art, health and physical education, technology, home economics, English, educational science, educational psychology, education for handicapped children, and early childhood care and education. An elementary school, a lower secondary school, a school for children with special education needs, and a kindergarten are also affiliated. International students can visit those facilities to observe how children are educated at Japanese schools.

3. Characteristics The Committee for International Students was established with the cooperation of all the members of the Faculty of Education. It aims to help international students achieve success in their study or research goal. They leave the door open to talk and are studentfriendly. Outline and characteristics of the course for Teacher Training Students

1. Japanese Language Education 2019.102020. 3 Students take intensive Japanese language program provided by the Center for Japanese Language and Student Exchange for the first six month as research student. Lessons are provided 10 hours per week according to the Japanese proficiency level of the student. Classes are divided into three levels as elementary, intermediate, and advance. 2. Specialized Training 2020. 42021. 3 According to each student's specialized subject, one or more faculty members will supervise him/her. The student will take seminars and lectures for a year under the supervision of the professor(s). The student must submit a thesis (Japanese or English) at the end of the course. 3. Practical Training, Participatory Subjects (field trips and regional exchanges) Students will visit elementary schools and junior high schools in town and talk about their country, lifestyle, culture, customs, etc. By actually visiting schools, students can experience what the Japanese education is like as well as deepen the understanding of the field of Japanese teaching through interaction with children and teachers. 4. Japanese Culture Experience Japanese Culture classes are included in the intensive Japanese Language Program. Students are able to experience traditional Japanese culture such as Japanese dance, Flower arrangement and Tea ceremony.

Nagasaki University has six dormitories prepared for international students, Nishimachi International House Main Building, Building A, Building B, Sakamoto International House and International Dormitory HORTENSIA. Surrounding Environment and Commute Time

Nishimachi International House and HORTENSIA are about 15 minutes on foot from Bunkyo Campus (main campus). It is located in a quiet neighborhood and housing for government workers is near by. Sakamoto International House is located on the university hospital property and is a few minutes on foot from medical & dentistry schools and related institutes. There is also a shopping area near Campus and the living environment is comfortable. It takes about 20 minutes to Bunkyo Campus by tram.
