Introduction

Where would you go if you can travel anywhere within the United States? For many people, such an extravagant trip is impossible.  Not everyone has the financial resources to take such a vacation.  Fortunately for you, you have invested and saved $5,000 from the Stock Market.  You have now been given the responsibility in planning your 2017 summer vacation! You will be able to travel to a location where you have always dreamed of going!! You will also make an itinerary for the trip, and display your expenses in a spreadsheet.

Process/Directions

1. You will be given $5,000 to finance your vacation.  You will need to consider transportation, accommodations, and recreation fees, along with food and spending money.

2. Your goal is to stay within the allotted budget and create a PowerPoint presentation by using PowerPoint.   Create a slide for each bit of information, such as explaining the allocation of funds for all areas of the vacation.

3. Students must choose ONE destination within the United States for their trip. Using the Internet you will find an estimated cost for each of your travel fees.

4. You must "book" a hotel for 6 days/ 7 nights that will accommodate four people, yourself and three other mock family. This does not include your time for transportation.

5. If driving by car you must allocate money for fueling costs. If you are traveling by train or plane, keep in mind transportation throughout the week. You may want to consider a rental car or public transportation. You may find it cheaper to book transportation and lodging together.

Requirements to keep in mind:

1.  $5,000 budget maximum

2.  1 vacation destination

3.  6 day/7 night accommodation

4.  Family of four

5. Can’t vacation in Kentucky, but stay within the United States

• Use side headings for each category of spending.

• You must provide all flight information (airline, flight number, times of departure and arrivals).
