Narrative Essay Assignment During first quarter, we explored a variety of narrative texts (Salvation, Black Boy, A Step from Heaven, When I was Puerto Rican, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian), and now you will write your own personal narrative. A narrative is a story that gives readers insight into a person’s life experiences. For this essay, you will pick one of the theme topics from The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian and share your story and the lesson you have learned as it relates to that topic. Consider the following prompts/themes when selecting an event for your own narrative:Narrative Prompts/Themes:Hopes/Dreams—Write about a time you felt especially hopeful about the future. What happened? Who may have helped you feel this way? Were there any outside factors that made it more difficult for you?Identity and self-esteem—Write about a time you either struggled with having low self-esteem or were able to gain more self-confidence. What were the circumstances that impacted your identity and made you feel this way? What people or events may have contributed to your feelings?Death/Loss—Write about your experience with death/loss.
