Time Frame: Last day to make trades is 4/24/2020

Objective: Use newly acquired knowledge of Economics in a real life simulated market.

Instructions:

• I have established thirty teams of 2-3 students on each team.

• If you would like to participate, sign up with Mr. Majewski at a later point, but no later than Friday, November 1 by 3:00pm.

• You may establish a team with any student from all four classes.

• After sign up, I will give you a username and password to begin playing in the Stock Market Game at the website above. Please do not change your passwords.

• We will not be using any class time for this participation in the game. You are also not required to participate.

• If you should ever need any help, please come after school on Tuesdays when Stock Market Club holds its meetings. No worries about commitment, but there are individuals that can help!!!

Rules of the Game: are located on the website once you login into your account, but these are a few to start.

• Fee Structure:

o Commission: $5 per trade

o Interest: .75%

o Margin: remains 7%

• You can only invest in stocks and mutual funds on NASDAQ and NYSE. The minimum number of shares per transaction is 10.

• You will not be able to spend more than 20% of your total buying power on any one investment.

• Intra-day pricing: all trades will receive real-time pricing – trades will no longer PEND, but students can view their trades immediately on the Transaction Notes page 

• No penny stocks will be allowed to be purchased. Minimum price per trade: $3 Minimum capitalization requirement: $25 million

• Students will be ranked against the performance of the S&P 500.

• Teams must also make three transactions in their portfolio by the last week of the session in order to qualify for the competition aspect of the program. 

• The Stock Market is open M-F from 9:30-4:00 and the last day to enter a trade is April 24

Incentive: I will award the incentives below at end of day for each date (12/13, 2/14, 4/24) and will apply to the current quarter grades.

• Any team with a portfolio of 3+ investments and is one of the Top Five teams for my classes earns an extra 100 on major grades for current quarter.

• Any team with a portfolio of 3+ investments and has a rate of return above the S&P 500 will receive 5 extra points on lowest Test grade for the current quarter.

• Any team with a portfolio of 3+ investments and ends up above 100,000 in equity by 12/13 will earn an extra homework pass. (greater than 5% for 2/14 and greater than 10% for 4/24)

• At the end of the game (4/24), if your team places in the top three for the whole stock market game including other schools, you can negotiate for an additional bonus to be received.
