Hello Red Hawk Families,I hope last week was a great one and that you’re anticipating great things for this week.Following is information for the week of May 4 - 8:QUICK UPDATESTeacher Appreciation:This week, May 4 – 8, is Teacher Appreciation Week. Tuesday, May 5, is National Teacher Day. Wednesday, May 13, is CNUSD district-wide Day of the Teacher. Here are some ways students can let teachers know they are appreciated:Email teachers telling them why they are appreciated.Email brief recordings (audio or video) that tell what they appreciate about their teachers.Use this Digital Fillable Thank You Card from the National PTA to say Thank you.Create their own digital card to send to e up with their own creative way to show their appreciation.This week also is California Student Mental Health Week. The district has a page with resources, supports, and daily activities for the week. The website is: usd.k12.ca.us/mentalhealth. Please also take advantage of the CNUSD Virtual Calming Room.Some of you may have noticed fluctuations in your student’s grades as teachers enter assignments completed during distance learning. The fluctuations in grades reflects student performance on individual assignments. However, as was communicated earlier this month, final grades will not be lower than the Quarter 3 grade. Assignments completed during distance learning will be able to increase a student's Q3 grade, but will not reduce it on the final report card. Please access the latest edition of the CNUSD Community Newsletter for information on new Parent Connection features and the new Student Connection app. GENERAL REMINDERSDistance LearningPlease continue to reach out to individual teachers for information about their specific classes. Please remind your child to access the platforms teachers are using to provide distance learning.Check your email, junk folders, etc. Have your students check their school email through the Student Portal to see if they have info from teachers. Check teacher webpages through the Academics tab on the El Cerrito Middle School website.Check the Student Resources and Parents tabs on the school website for access to school and district resources.Email your child’s teachers with specific classroom or learning questions. They will respond during office hours.Email your administrators for general questions not answered on the school or district websites. We will respond as quickly as possible.Family ResourcesFor families who are struggling and need to access district and community resources for basic needs, social-emotional support, and/or mental health, please access the parent resources on our website. You will find links to a variety of resources, including the CNUSD Parent Center.Counseling ResourcesCNUSD Virtual Intermediate School Counseling Plan: Each week, our school counselors will host hangout sessions and provide resources for students through their website and their Google Classroom. Please see the attached flyer for more information.Weekly Zoom Workout Club: ECMS PE teacher Mr. Ross and the counselors invite you to join their Weekly Zoom Workout Club. The weekly workout sessions are for staff, students, and families to come and de-stress by working out every Wednesday from 11:30-12:00. ?To access the weekly workout sessions, please visit the ECMS Counselor’s Page – Sports and Fitness tab. The counselors and Mr. Ross also will have the link posted in their Google Classrooms. If you would feel more comfortable when working out together, you can join with your video turned off and audio muted!
