Others may be assigned, subject to reasonable accommodations.)Conduct individual college counseling sessions with junior and senior students and their parents to discuss and formulate post-secondary mitment to discerning the priorities of student needs and addressing appropriatelyPrepare recommendation letters and secondary school reports. Provide guidance to ensure students are presenting themselves and Brebeuf Jesuit in the highest regard.Collaborate with Academic Counselors to provide a four-year program of advising and support to assigned students in meeting their academic and growth goals.Teach sophomore students in College Counseling Seminars.Create and implement educational and developmental appropriate information programs for students and parents addressing current issues in the areas of college advising, career investigation, college admission, transition adjustment, financial assistance, etc. Establish and maintain productive and successful relationships with college admission representatives. Articulate Brebeuf Jesuit’s program of study and services to college admission officers to support the school’s image of excellence.Visit colleges and universities to become familiar with their programs, services, and admission policies. This position includes travel to college campuses and attending professional development programs when approved by supervisor.Lead development of program planning throughout the year, including, but not limited to, College Application Workshop for Seniors, grade-level parent programs, Evening with Colleges annual event, Brebeuf open houses, Service Academy Day, college bus trip, college fairs, etc.Responsible for coordinating the PSAT/NMSQT for approximately 400 students. This entails communication of PSAT/NMSQT test administration to students and families, and making sure the setup of rooms, proctor assignments, etc. are in accordance with College Board’s terms and guidelines. It also requires working with the SSD Coordinator to provide testing accommodations to all eligible students.Willing to support with Advanced Placement (AP) exam planning and implementation.Provide guidance and support to faculty in writing letters of recommendation.Collaborate with English faculty on instruction for juniors in writing their college essay.Create print and digital materials for college counseling and college admission projects.Prepare presentation templates for parent and group program information meetings.Attend training and development pertaining to post-secondary counseling. Maintain active involvement in local, state, and national professional college admission organizations.Align services and programs to meet the highest ethical and professional standards in accordance with the principles of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and reflect the values of Jesuit education.Participate in online certification programs which require a time commitment outside of the school day. Plan and organize staff morale activities.QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED:Sensitivity to and appreciation for diversity, with demonstrated ability to relate to individuals with compassion, dignity and respect.Ability to work collaboratively and responsively in a team environment.Excellent writing, speaking and communication skills.Proficiency in use of technology as it applies to college counseling.Ability to work as part of a team but manage own responsibilities with minimal oversight.Experience in postsecondary counseling in a school or within a college admission office.Capacity to participate in departmental evening group programs on postsecondary advising.PREFERRED:Masters degree in School CounselingLicensed School Counselor or in licensure track currently meeting or have completed a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised clinical experience in a school.
