This year marks 40 years of service to our community. We are evolving our work and addressing the root causes of hungerOur community has raised more than $6.37 million to help us help our customers when they need us the most. Together, we are filling the gap. SPRINT: 58% of the emergency fund has gone towards food acquisition, additional staff to meet increased demand, strengthening outreach programs, and supporting logistics. MARATHON: 42% of the emergency fund has been earmarked for food resources and programming moving forward as customers work to get back on their feet.ABOUT OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19Across our networkFrom March 1- July 30th, we have distributed 35,053,287 pounds of food—a 25% increase compared to last year. The amount of new families who have visited our partners has increased by 43%.Mid-Ohio Foodbank distributed about 75 million pounds of food this past fiscal year -- enough food for more than 150,000 meals each day.Our team distributed more than 62,000 meals to children across our 20 county footprint through our Kids’ Cafe.Franklin CountyIn March, our onsite pantry shifted to a drive-thru model to continue to connect our neighbors to food while lessening the chance of transmission.About 40 – 45% of our associates are working remotely to decrease the amount of traffic in the Foodbank facility. More than 270,000 total meals have been prepared and distributed through our Mid-Ohio Kitchen since the onset of COVID-19Through our partnership with the Community Shelter Board, Mid-Ohio Kitchen prepared meals for our neighbors who are facing homelessness. The partnership covers:YMCA DowntownYWCA on the HilltopSIQ/Med 1Mt. Carmel Med Street TeamBuckeye Youth SIQOhio National Guard The Ohio National Guard deployed 100 soldiers to help pack more than one million pounds of food. Upon departure of the Ohio National Guard, we need to fill 2,700 volunteer hours every week and/or invest in more staffing to meet increased need.ABOUT HUNGER IN OHIO AND THE UNITED STATES1 in 5 Ohioans are food insecure. For children, that number is 1 in 4. Feeding America estimates 54 million people may face hunger in 2020 due to COVID-19. It is estimated this will impact more than 18 million children across the country. ................
