Position Descriptions
President:
The President, with the assistance of the NHS advisors, is responsible for the organization and activities of the CHS National Honor Society. The President works closely with the other NHS officers to further the goals and activities and is responsible, along with the other officers, for leading the monthly NHS meetings. A major responsibility of the President is the organization and assignment of NHS tutors for students who need assistance in academic courses.
Vice President Service:
The Vice President of Service is responsible for the coordination, scheduling, and communication with community and school organizations that provide opportunities for National Honor Society members to volunteer service and time. The Vice President works closely with National Honor Society members to communicate service opportunities. The Vice President continually looks for new service opportunities that help the school and community.
Vice President Communication:
The Vice President of Communication is responsible for public relations, communications with members, and any correspondence with speakers or others that are working with NHS. The Vice President takes pictures and videos for the organization and assists in keeping visual records of major activities and events.
Treasurer:
The Treasurer is responsible for working with the Advisors and Building Clerk to manage the NHS money. The Treasurer must learn the paperwork that governs school organizations. The Treasurer assists the other officers in fund raising projects and handles any money generated. Another duty is to buy the donuts for the monthly meetings.
Secretary:
The Secretary is responsible for keeping track of the service hours for all club members, taking attendance at the monthly meetings, and creating minutes for all the officer’s meetings. The Secretary updates and revises the NHS forms as needed.
Time Commitment: All officers need time within the school day to work with the NHS advisors and conduct NHS duties. It is preferred, but not mandatory, for officers to have one period per day scheduled to work in the Guidance office to work on NHS projects. Total time commitment can range from 5-10 hours per week.
