Renewals-Company Instructions



To help you prepare for the upcoming renewal season, NMLS has created specific quick guides that your company can customize and send to your individual MLOs so they can complete the renewal process in the manner that suits your company best. The quick guides are provided to you in word format so you can update the document with company specific information including logo, deadlines, specific instructions, contact information, etc. Areas where company specific information can and/or should be provided are indicated in brackets with [blue text]. Each quick guide provides the individual with step-by-step instructions for the renewal process.

We suggest the following process:

1. In October, send the “Individual MLO – Prepare for Renewal” document which directs individuals to confirm they can log in and make all applicable updates to their NMLS record and submit to their regulator.

2. Determine whether the company will process and pay for the license renewals for MLOs or if the MLO will be submitting and paying for their own renewal request.

3. On November 1st, send the appropriate Renewal Quick guide to the MLOs. (Either “Renewal Instructions to Attest for Company” if the company submit and pay, OR “Renewal Instructions to Submit and Pay for Renewal Request” if each MLO will submit and pay).
