In their natural environment dogs are carnivorous omnivores and cats are carnivores. Out of choice, they prefer real meat, in its raw, uncooked, genuinely natural state.

We need to look hard at those processed products and really think about the ingredients they use, how they are made ? and why they look like they do.
The truth is most pet foods these days are made with a blend of powdered meat and bone meals, highly processed grains and various protein derivatives sourced from the bits of animals that wouldn't normally arrive on your dinner plate. This is everything from "beak to hoof and even including feathers."
They are also packed with cereals and starchy carbohydrates, which aren't part of a carnivores natural diet. They are processed and cooked to high temperatures and have to then contain synthetic, arti cial vitamin supplements in order to comply with the regulations for being labelled as complete.
The resulting mix of processed cereals and protein derivatives is often then mixed with avour enhancers, simply to encourage your pet to eat foods that they instinctively would otherwise know, are not meant for them. So, even though it may appear your pet enjoys the food, and you may think the food you are using looks natural, chances are it isn't. And your beloved pet could just be getting by on a diet of junk.
