NextLevelPerformance Fastpitch Umpire Camps October 18-20, 2013 October 18-20, 2013 – NCAA Mechanics & Philosophy Camp (Plano, Texas) Camp Information FEE - $275 (by 9/15) $350 (after 9/15)NLP Fastpitch Umpire Camp Date: This is an Advanced Camp: October 18-20, 2013 (Plano, TX) This camp is designed for the umpire that is currently working, or aspires to work, NCAA fastpitch softball games. The emphasis is to sharpen each umpire’s own personal skills and abilities into readiness for the NCAA stage. The umpire is expected to be knowledgeable in theory and practice the current NCAA Softball Umpire Program Mechanics. Note: While this camp is designed for educational purposes and not as “recruiting” venue, coordinators from several conferences and members of the NCAA Softball Umpire Program will be in attendance. Camp Format Each umpire will work one day of camp games (3-umpire system) and one or two days of non-camp games (2-umpire system). Each umpire will receive classroom instruction and evaluation of their games by using a combination of video, classroom, chalk-talk, and in-game pointers. All camp games will be using the NCAA SUP 3-Umpire system and all umpires will work all positions during the camp. Each umpire’s individual game will consist of verbal feedback immediately after each game. Camp Location The camp is located in Plano, Texas, in conjunction with the Elite Showcase Exposure Tournament (18U). Heritage Yards softball complex, 4525 Hedgcoxe Road, Plano, TX 75093. Camp Housing Accommodations will be set up like this:Camp attendees will be responsible for the costs of lodging. If you plan on bringing any family, or non-camp umpire, you will be responsible for the entire room. Two Umpires sharing a room with two queen/double beds.Umpires will SPLIT the costs of the hotel (usually around $50 per night, per umpire) What you’ll get!! Campers will receive a great education, camp souvineer, innovative ideas, eye-opening concepts and a deeper understanding of the Collegiate Umpire’s responsibilities and commitment. Additionally, each camp participant will spend time in a plate mechanic/strike zone cage for evaluation and improvement. It is advised that each camp participant complete a series of cage work to complete the camp.Cage sessions will be shot with video. Campers may request, in advance, copies of their video by providing an EMPTY 8-Gigabyte flash drive.Non-Camp Days The Non-Camp games can be worked as a 3-umpire crew (so you can practice what you’ve learned), or a two-umpire crew in a 3-umpire rotation. As we outline this in the pre-camp meeting, the choice will be made at that time to do this kind of scheduling. If no requests are made, you will be assigned regular 2-umpire games on days you don’t attend the camp. Most of these games will be at the same site as the camp, but some will not. You will be paid $35 per game for these games (at the plate). Hopefully this will allow you to make money to offset much of your expense to the camp. If you use 3-umpire crews on a game, the $70 will be split 3-ways.NextLevelPerformance Fastpitch Umpire CampsAbout NextLevelPerformanceNow in our 5th year, NextLevelPerformance is all about challenging, guiding and building you, the collegiate umpire, toward knowing and working in detail what the NCAA Softball Umpire Program Philosophies and Mechanics are about.
