Nema EnclosureNEMA Ratings for EnclosuresAt NEMA Enclosures, our knowledge and experience in NEMA rated enclosures is so extensive, it's in our name. The National Electrical Manufacturer Association (NEMA) uses a standard rating system that defines the types of environments in which an electrical enclosure can be used, and frequently signifies a fixed enclosure's ability to withstand certain environmental conditions. It is NEMA's belief that utilizing standards benefits the user as well as the manufacturer. It improves safety, economics and communication between manufacturer and purchaser. A standard of NEMA defines a product in reference to its attributes and capabilities. We produce quality enclosures in a variety of materials, types and NEMA ratings.Nema Enclosures designs and manufactures electrical enclosures in the following NEMA standards:NEMA 3 Indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts To provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt and windblown dust) To provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow) And that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosureNEMA 3R Enclosures constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts To provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt) To provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow) And that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosureNEMA 3RX Enclosures constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts. To provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt) To provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow); that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure NEMA 3RX enclosures are designed with the same corrosion resistance as NEMA 4X, but since they are not required to be dust tight, louvers and other ventilation options can be added. NEMA 4 Indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts To provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt and windblown dust) To provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose directed water) And that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosureNEMA 4X Indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts To provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (windblown dust) To provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose directed water) That provides an additional level of protection against corrosion And that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosureNEMA 12 Constructed (without knockouts) for indoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts To provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt and circulating dust, lint, fibers, and flyings)And to provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (dripping and light splashing)NEMA 3R enclosuresNema Enclosures manufactures NEMA 3R enclosures for housing power distribution, lighting contractors, switch gear, and other electrical components that need to be protected in an outdoor environment. Our adherence to UL 508A standards will give you a quality weatherproof enclosure resistant to rain, ice, and snow. NEMA 3R enclosures are compatible for both indoor or outdoor applications and holds the least demanding rating for outdoor use.NEMA 3R Characteristics:Protection against incidental contact with enclosed equipmentProtection from falling dirt, rain, sleet and/or snowDrainage provisionProtection against rain at a level higher than the lowest live partAlternate locking and latching mechanisms availableNEMA 4 enclosures Nema Enclosures strictly adheres to the exacting NEMA standards in order to provide you a quality electrical enclosure at competitive price. NEMA 4 enclosures are intended mainly for outdoor use where extra protection against moisture and wind driven rain is required. Our NEMA 4 enclosures come in powder coated carbon steel and are available in a variety of types, such as wall-mounted, free-standing and JIC.NEMA 4 Characteristics:Indoor or outdoor applicationsProtection against windblown dust and rainProtection of electrical components from splashing and hose-directed waterIce forming damage protectionCustom pre-punched holes, cutouts, lift-off hinges, insulation, latches or locks availableNEMA 4X Rating enclosuresNEMA 4X enclosures are primarily intended for outdoor use and offer a superior level of protection from corrosion and extreme environments.NEMA Enclosures Materials5052-H32 aluminum, 304/304L stainless steel316/316L stainless steel NEMA 4X Enclosures are available in a number of styles for your demanding applications. NEMA 4X Enclosure Characteristics:Indoor or outdoor use, including offshore applicationsProtection against windblown dust and rainProtection from splashing water and hose-directed waterCorrosion-resistantAvailable with pre-punched holes, insulation retainers, welded couplings and view windowsNEMA 12 enclosuresNema Enclosures produce NEMA 12 enclosures which are intended mainly for indoor industrial, manufacturing, and machining applications. These metal enclosures will protect against dust, dirt, and dripping non-corrosive liquids, oil and lubricants.NEMA 12 Characteristics:Primarily for industrial indoor useProtection against dust, falling dirt, fibers and lintProtection from dripping water and other noncorrosive liquidsResistant to damage from external condensation of noncorrosive liquidsDoors with oil-resistant gasketsAvailable with pre-punched holes, cutouts, lift-off hinges, insulation, latches or locksNEMA 3RX enclosuresNEMA 3RX enclosures are designed with the same corrosion resistance as NEMA 4X, but since they are not required to be dust tight, louvers and other ventilation options can be added. NEMA 3RX enclosures also have the added benefit of being cheaper than their 4X counterpart. Carbon steel is susceptible to natural oxidation (rust) and galvanic corrosion. A wide variety of environmental factors can influence the severity of the corrosion and can be difficult to predict accurately. Temperature, humidity, and sulfur dioxide concentration in the atmosphere can all play a role in the rate of corrosion. Environments near the ocean, such as docks, shipyards, and oil platforms are all at risk for heavy sea salt spray.Put your corrosion worries at ease by choosing a NEMA 3RX enclosure. Nema Enclosures manufactures NEMA 3RX enclosures out of 5052-H32 aluminum, 304L stainless steel, or 316L stainless steel in a wide variety of different styles to meet your application. These material types offer an inherent degree of protection against corrosive agents such as a salt spray, without the need for an additional coating. Type 3RX enclosures are constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts; to provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt); to provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow); that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure that provides an increased level of protection against corrosion. There are five primary ingress protection tests associated with NEMA 250 Type 3RX enclosures.Access to hazardous partsIngress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt)Ingress of water (dripping and light splashing)Ingress of water (rain, snow, and sleet)Corrosive agentsCommon applications for these enclosures include:Power distributionTelecommunicationsJunction boxesHVAC equipmentFarm equipmentMeter CabinetsUtility boxes ................
