|This document records the acceptance of the Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE), by the Designated Project Engineer including a summary of the |

|competence assessment supporting the acceptance. |

|Background |

|The Contractor’s Responsible Engineer is the person within a design and/or construction organisation with the responsibility for the day- to-day |

|management and co-ordination of the technical and engineering activities for a specific engineering discipline / Project. |

|Competence Assessment |

|The CEM to assess and Discipline PE (Network Rail) to review the capabilities of the candidate against the criteria listed below. They may use the |

|Competence Quads as defined in the NR/L2/INI/02009/02 and Temporary Works Coordinator’s competencies as defined in the BS5975 and/or Temporary Works |

|Forum guidance. |

|* If applicable, the competence assessment should take into account whether or not the CRE is also undertaking the role of Temporary Works Coordinator.|

|The appointment of TWC is to be in accordance with the requirements of BS5975. |
