ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY

POSITION: Teacher of students with Severe Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or Autism (ASD) in the North Metro Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Support

Position may be located in Atlanta, North Fulton County, or Gwinnett County.

EFFECTIVE DATE: August 2013

QUALIFICATIONS

& CERTIFICATIONS:

1. Current Georgia professional certification in Special Education Behavior Disorders; Special Education General Curriculum; or Special Education Adapted Curriculum

OR

2. Eligible for Georgia nonrenewable certification

PREFERRED

QUALIFICATIONS:

SALARY: State of Georgia, Department of Education Professional Salary

Schedule plus agency supplement

Full benefit package; TRS

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Direct instruction of students in content areas

2. Development and implementation of individual and classroom

management plans

3. Development and implementation of student Individual Education

Programs (IEP)

4. Administer or assist in the formal and informal assessment of students

5. Oversee preparation of daily classroom activities and student

supervision

6. Collect and accurately prepare data reports on student performance

7. Crisis Prevention and Restraint Training certification is required for all North Metro GNETS employees

PREFERRED

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Demonstrates a strong foundation in Applied Behavior Analysis

2. Designs and interprets Functional Analyses of Behavior

3. Designs and implements multi-faceted behavioral interventions

4. Understands the behavioral characteristics typically associated with Autism and Emotional Behavioral Disorders

5. Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with parents and professionals

6. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Georgia Special Education Rules & Regulations including the Least Restrictive Environment, GPS/CCPGS, Differentiated Instruction, Universal Design for Learning, and Co-Teaching

7. Possesses a basic understanding of educational curriculum and instructional methods; ex. HiQ in Reading/ELA, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies

8. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations

9. Three or more years experience working with students with EBD or ASD 10. Highly Qualified in one or more of the core content areas
