Network Support Specialist

Family & Children's Services of the Waterloo Region currently has a full-time (36.5 hours), permanent Network Support Specialist position available within the Technical Services team.

The Network Support Specialist is responsible to ensure highly reliable connectivity, security, availability and functionality for the Agency's data and telecommunications infrastructure and systems. This includes, but is not limited to, routing and switching, servers, storage, network appliances, backup, and access security.

This position requires an ability to work after-hours on projects and maintenance tasks and participate in an oncall rotation.

The role has a particular focus on the following areas: -Process Automation ? scripting, GPO policy development, software delivery and management, security patch management -Manage and continuously audit processes and documentation to seek out new ways to improve efficiency -IT Security, including perimeter security, endpoint security, networking, email filtering, VPN's, access controls, authentication mechanisms, Cloud services, etc. -Manage security events, investigate issues or incidents, ensure vulnerabilities are mitigated -Cloud service deployment and management such as O365 and other suites -Monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting routing and switching equipment -Monitoring and maintaining SQL servers -Implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows and Linux servers and other network appliances -Maintaining a VMware virtualization infrastructure -Participating in developing, maintaining and monitoring the organizations' Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plan, Procedures and Systems -Act as a technical resource for all level 2 and above tickets and issues

Qualifications: University Degree or College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field Minimum three (3) years progressively responsible experience in a mid-size technical services department Strong understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 cloud environment including Azure Hands-on experience with network hardware and software from vendors such as Juniper, HP, Palo Alto Strong understanding of network technology and protocols: routing, firewall rules and ACL's, VLAN's, VPN's, WIFI, etc. Demonstrated competence in setup and maintenance of virtual environments required Strong understanding of network technology, protocols and tools Above average communication and negotiation skills Demonstrated knowledge of Linux is required Ability to work flexible hours as required

Compensation: $ 68,856.21 to $ 83,603.10 per annum (Office and Clerical 8) Agency paid health and dental benefits, including LTD, AD&D, and Life coverage Employee and Family Assistance Plan Generous vacation and sick time policies Banked overtime Paid on-call
