Group differences in CPAP adherence will be analyzed. Graduate Research Assistant, 2006 to 2007Depression and Outcomes of Congestive Heart Failure – An Examination of Behavioral and Physiological Pathways, University of Miami Principle Investigator: Biing-Jiun Shen, Ph.D., Ohio UniversityCollected and analyzed data on an American Heart Association grant-funded clinical research study that examined adults diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and associated psychosocial issues among this diverse sample of men and women from the South Florida community. The purpose of the study was to determine whether depression and other psychosocial traits (e.g., social support, perceived stress, coping style, and hostility) independently predict several outcomes (e.g., quality of life, hospital readmission, mortality, and medical non-adherence) in congestive heart failure. This study also aimed to determine whether psychosocial traits are associated with metabolic risk profiles, inflammatory markers, and brain natriuretic peptide.
