The Spring Report includes a list of the schools that are new and also that moved up the most in the rankings. The last page of this report explains how points are calculated. Teams earn points even if they are not members of the NDT, however only members are ranked in this final report. In addition to the NDT Reports, Jon Bruschke and Chris Palmer update the NDT points as well as all results from college policy debate tournaments on a regular basis at Before the Final Version of this Report, double-check your points at CAT or Tabroom for PC . . . The ranking system will report the standing of all NDT programs in December and all NDT subscribing programs April each year. A three-tiered system will be employed: (a) Ranking on a national basis for overall squad performance and for varsity level competition; (b) Ranking by districts using overall squad performance; (c) Ranking of junior college programs using overall squad performance.Additionally, in the spring, the Report shall include a ranking of “Movers” (teams with 32 or more overall points increase comparing the previous year’s points to the current year) and of “New Schools” (based on overall performance, this is for teams who did not earn points in the previous fall and who have earned at least 32 or more overall points).II. Rankings will be based on a point system according to the following items: (a) Only results from tournament divisions with six or more teams per division from three or more schools with at least 4 preliminary rounds that debate the NDT topic will count towards the ranking;(b) The results of a school’s two best teams in any qualifying division of a tournament will count toward the overall rankings. The varsity rankings will only count the best two teams in varsity division; (c) The results of a school’s best performance at a maximum of eight tournaments will count towards the rankings; (d) Only teams who are in the upper half of teams in the first elimination round may count that round’s points for rankings; (e) If the tab room director(s) are from one school only, then elimination rounds of teams from that school will not count toward the rankings (you must have two schools represented as tab directors to have all elimination points counted); (f) Lincoln-Douglas results or rounds in which a debater debated without a colleague or with a colleague from another school will not count toward the rankings; (g) If the elimination rounds of a tournament are interrupted by extenuating circumstances, the points remaining to be earned will be evenly distributed to the remaining participants, rounded to the nearest whole number;(h) Hybrids do not count for points unless recognized by the NDT Committee for ranking points;(i) Breakout rounds (where the teams with the best records do not advance to elims) do not count for points.III.
