Progress:
In Fall 2004, the ethnic
distribution of NSHE
student enrollment met
or surpassed the minority
population distributions
of the state in all ethnic
minority groups except
Hispanics. In the NSHE,
Hispanics comprised
14% of the total
enrollment, while
throughout Nevada,
Hispanics made up 23%
of the state¡¯s population.
While Hispanics remain
the only underrepresented
ethnic/racial group in the
NSHE, their growth has
been enormous over the
past ten years. In terms of
absolute growth, increases
in Hispanic student
enrollment are second only
to the growth of White,
non-Hispanic students
enrolling in the system.
