|Project No. | |Project Title: |Rehab Helicopter Maintenance Hangar PODs 7 & 8 |
Project Scope
This project will convert two 4200 SF aircraft storage hangar pods into helicopter maintenance facilities. Work includes new toilet rooms,
trench drains, a radiant heating/exhaust system, energy efficient light fixtures, exterior wall and ceiling insulation, a fire alarm system,
hangar door weather stripping, and new hangar door operating mechanisms. In addition, electrical power will be upgraded including installation
of 400 cycle power outlets for running various systems inside the aircraft while in the hangar.
Project Justification
The existing aircraft maintenance facility is located in Bldg. No. 1950, and is severely under-sized and unable to accommodate all 15 of our
new UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. The adjacent Bldg. No. 1952 was originally designed and constructed in 1940 to serve as alert hangars for Air
Force jet interceptor aircraft. This space is not insulated, has very poor lighting, and includes a heating system that has been deactivated
for years. This project will provide additional aircraft maintenance facilities to accommodate the new UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. This
project is part of the new Presidential administration’s proposed federal economic stimulus package.
