E&T Group

* 1st draft on Council Information in a 3 panel brochure in publisher

is being developed. Not sure who? Liz?

* GIS Day Nov 19th 2008:

Need venue and expand to create a GIS Day subcommittee. Call New Haven Alec V. (Beth), Call Roslyn New Haven (Pete), Call Patrick Ladd Meriden (Scott), Call Bridgeport {name?} (Arroll). Ask to be on subcommittee and venue in their town.

What I sent to New Haven requesting them to host event:

I represent the CT State Military Dept. on the CT Geospatial Council which is organized and run by CT Dept of Information Technology with all State Agencies represented. The subcommittee for Education and Training is organizing this years

November 19th 2008 "GIS Day" (Geographical Information Systems).

Last year the City of Hartford hosted the event which took place at the Legislative Office Building for one day. We had

a great turn out from all over the state which included a poster session (>50 posters submitted), 3 presentations that

ran 1/2 hour apart, 10 - 15 tables of exhibits and displays for GIS projects from Universities, State Agencies and Municipalities and, the CT Geospatial Council held their annual meeting there also to give it more support. It has the

potential for being a larger event with the right involvement. I have contacted Bridgeport, Milford and Meriden GIS reps

along with the COGs/RPAs for the New Haven County.

I would like to request that the City of New Haven host this years event because it's the perfect spot and this will

enable other municipalities in Southern CT a chance to participate. What would be needed is a place to host the event

of course, with an area to have the posters hanging and about 10 tables set up for exhibits/displays, a room with seating

for > 50 people where presentations could be held and parking of course.

* Dept. of Education Involvement

(Liz, can you get this one?) Contact Laura Cadmus or Peggy Harper to find out who is the ESRI CT contact for Dept of Ed

(Beth) Contact Diana Payne from Sea Grant to find out their GIS capabilities and possible article for newsletter

* NEARC September 24th

Pete and Sandy to ask council if CT is going to be represented this year. We would like to have our "What is GIS?" presentation, the newsletter and Council Information Brochure available for this event also to advertise the CT GIS Day activities. Scott is doing presentation for So. Windsor at NEARC.

* Liz to post minutes

* Sandy meeting with Emily for User to User Contacts, Council to be

linked to LISTSERV so they are aware of upcoming events and happenings for GIS.
