Agenda Review

The group reviewed and no modifications were made on the agenda. Laurie Cullerot asked the group if anybody was aware of the CROMERR conference happening in Scottsdale, Arizona on December 8th and 9th. New Jersey mentioned they were aware of the conference and were planning on sending Pete Tenebruso. New Jersey indicated that Pete would be willing to raise any issues on behalf of the workgroup. Sherry Driber will forward the workgroup the draft Agenda for the conference following the Call.

Project Updates

Advisory Committee Call

Rob Willis gave an update of the planning for the October 31st Advisory Committee Call. The Advisory Committee Call will focus on a demonstration of a potential drinking water data submission system. A co-chair call is scheduled for Thursday and the conference call agenda is expected to be completed and distributed by early next week.

IT Centric Conference Call Update

The workgroup was given an update of the IT centric conference call. The call contained two major parts; first the NH registration process was reviewed. All questions concerning the registration process were deferred to Dan Burleigh who was unable to attend the meeting. The second part of the call Doug Timms and Rob gave background information about the Exchange Network and building Nodes. A PowerPoint presentation with Exchange Network information has been posted to the website along with the other supporting materials from the conference call, NH System Design Document, and DMR Process Flow Diagram.

ASDWA Meeting Update

Laurie reported to the group about her and Doug’s experience and the ASDWA conference. Laurie was on a panel with Molly O’Neill from ECOS, Jeff Bryan from EPA Office of Water, and a state representative from Louisiana. Jeff Bryan gave a talk concerning the SDWIS State Schema. The Louisiana State representative talked about Lab Services. Molly spoke about the Exchange Network. Laurie spoke about the challenge grant project. Jeff’s effort on the SDWIS State schema is roughly related to the work the drinking water challenge grant group is doing and Jeff expressed interest in cooperation. Jeff’s current focus is on a State to EPA data flow and is currently involved in a pilot project with Florida and Maine.

Doug Timms talked about the Schema that is being created for the EPA Office of Water that will act as an interface for SDWIS/State.. SAIC is currently examining the e-DWR Schema and looking for potential areas to incorporate into the SDWIS/State schema. On 11/14 SAIC will have a draft schema. The existence of two Schema for SDWIS State states will force these States to answer the question of what Schema to use; either the e-DWR, which has been created to handle multi-media and is intended for more generic and comprehensive reporting, or the SDWIS/State schema optimized for loading information into SDWIS/State.

Exchange Network Queries and the Challenge Grant

Rob reviewed an eight-slide PowerPoint presentation placing the drinking water challenge grant project in the context of the Exchange Network. The purpose of the session was to elicit feedback from the workgroup about their interest in making some of the information from their State drinking water systems available via Queries on the Exchange Network website. Doug indicated that if the group could identify 3 or 4 queries that are applicable to all participants, as a part of this workgroup the consultant team could develop some of the supporting documentation to assist in the implementation. Laurie suggested that this be revisited on a subsequent call and the issue be discussed with the Advisory Committee on next Friday’s call. Leslie Latt asked if the queries could be created to allow for differences and flexibility and Doug responded that they could.

Partner Registration Process Review

Each state reviewed their draft registration process. For a detailed description of each registration process please read the draft registration process documents each state created found on the project website.

Best Practice Document

Doug has made modifications to the Best Practice Document. He will put the latest version of the document on the project Website following the conference call. The security and validation sections of the document have been created and completed. A structural modification was made to the document to move Security to section 3. The resubmission of data section was also updated to incorporate logic used by SDWIS/State.

Process Review

The Workgroup call ended by each State commenting on the process of creating documentation as a cohort and sharing the results as part of the weekly call (see Partner Registration Process Review). Each state indicated that it was a useful exercise and a good investment of conference call time. The workgroup then decided that the next major piece that was going to be outlined, prepared, and shared was the business requirements for the data submission system. Each state was asked to begin thinking about this and be prepared to present these over the next two conference calls.
