Vendor comes to off site clinics through out the day. Hard drive destruction, paper destruction at nominal fee. Proceeds go to hospital guild. Marni at St. Joseph’s Manor- Dirty Sock event. Staff brings a clean white tube sock. Attaches to exhaust pipe for a few seconds. The sock with the most carbon capture and the sock with the least get a free oil change donated by a local business. Cristina Vernon of Carolinas Healthcare - Tennis shoe shredding event augmented by award for grossest pair of shoes collected. 40-45 exhibiters/ event tables set up with raffles throughout the event. Each participant gets a card when they arrive, each exhibitor stamps the card and those with many or all stamps are entered into a raffle to win flower center pieces. They had many raffles and give away items. Cristina offered an idea that didn’t work—they had eco movies scheduled during the 3-11 and 11-7 shifts and no one attended. Melissa of Carroll Hospital Center- 12 vendors including local sheriff came for medication collection event, thermometer take back, cell phone and eye glass collections, greeting card collection all for either recycling or repurposing. Campus area clean up, lunch and learn about office supplies and a personal paper shredding day Barbara of Palomar Health- 8 tables, bike workshop, staff performances.Breena Davis of Virginia Mason Medical Center- Give away sunflower seeds with information for participants to count bees on the flowers and report to scientific research team. Dr. Aparna Bole of University Hospitals in Cleveland- Recyclable materials sculpture contest, Project Greenway blue wrap outfit contest, involved night shift with raffles and ability to vote. Song contest- They took a popular song, asked for new eco themed lyrics- there were 100 versions of the song. The staff voted for their favorite.
