The cast is:The Canadian press on Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad“Great double act shoots and scores.” The Globe and Mail“This poignant, involving play takes a simple love story between ordinary people and transforms it into something quite wonderful.” The Edmonton Sun“A winner…This show is much more about the game of love than the game of hockey, but Melski doesn’t spare the barbs when it comes to showing the beastly behaviour of overly-serious hockey parents.” The Star Phoenix“Melski scores big with Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad.” The Chronicle Herald“Michael Melski writes like people talk and if that isn’t a definition of good dialogue then I don’t know what is.” The Toronto Star “Charm, humour and performing skill...Michael Melski’s Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad has these qualities, plus a setting that’s commonplace in the outside world but unusual to the point of being exotic in the theatre – a double recommendation.” The National Post“A sweet, theatrical romance. It’s also a fisticuffs and fun-filled celebration of Canada’s national sport cum obsession. …playwright Michael Melski’s out-of-the-ordinary setting gives the play a unique vantage point to make some serious – but balanced – commentary about violence in Canada’s beloved national sport, as well as between men and women.” See Magazine, WinnipegThe press on playwright Michael Melski“A talent to watch” Canadian Living“An important new voice in Canadian fiction” Atlantic Books Today“One of the Canadians to watch” Macleans"Melski has a mastery of the local idiom, and, like Faulkner before him, succeeds in fusing particular characters and situations into a metaphor that speaks to a wider audience and has a universal voice.” TheatrumThe press on director Jimmy Walters' productions of Tony Harrison’s The Trackers of Oxyrhynchus and Square Rounds at the Finborough Theatre★★★★ “Jimmy Walters’s expressive production” Michael Billington, The Guardian ★★★★ “The real strength lies in the performances by the six-strong female cast, who bring these troubled characters?to life with passion and chemistry.” Everything Theatre ★★★★ “Jimmy Walters’ inventive production.” Jewish Renaissance★★★★ “A resounding success.” Close Up Culture★★★★ “The all-female cast were exceptional under the direction of Jimmy Walters.” North West End★★★★ “Timely relevance.” Breaking the Fourth Wall “Vibrant, heartfelt and provocative.” Sam Marlowe, The Times“Even if the mock penises in this revival tend to dangle, there is nothing limp about Jimmy Walters’ production.” Michael Billington, The Guardian“A joy to hammer in the New Year.” Sarah Hemming, Financial Times"I loved this.
