DRAFT SUMMARY
The Minnesota Vikings enter the 2019 NFL Draft, the 59th in franchise history, with eight selections. This is the fourth year in a row under General Manager Rick Spielman's guidance that the Vikings enter the draft with eight picks. The Vikings are slated to pick 18th in the first round of the NFL Draft. Since Spielman was named General Manager prior to the 2012 NFL Draft, all but two of the Vikings first round draft picks have come on the defensive side of the ball. The team has selected 10 total first round picks since 2012. S Harrison Smith (2012), CB Xavier Rhodes (2013), LB Anthony Barr (2014), CB Trae Waynes (2015), WR Laquon Treadwell (2016) and CB Mike Hughes (2018) are current Vikings selected by Spielman on the first day of the NFL Draft. Those six players have played in 365 contests in total while starting over 84% of their games. Spielman has brought in 41 players on the Vikings current roster either through the draft or as rookie free agents.

72-39-2 40-16-1
54-60-3 29-28
60-54-2 37-22
The Vikings open the season at home for the third consecutive year with a Week 1 matchup against the Falcons. Atlanta will make its first trip to Minnesota since 2014 and play in U.S. Bank Stadium for the first time. This will be the fifth season opener against Atlanta, the second most behind San Francisco with seven, where Minnesota owns a 4-1 mark. Minnesota is undefeated against Atlanta under Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer (3-0) and are searching for their 20th win all-time against the Falcons.
WEEK 1 SEPT. 8
Oakland is the first team in the AFC West the Vikings will face in the 2019 season. The last time the Raiders played in Minneapolis was at the Metrodome on November 20, 2011 where Oakland walked away with a 27-21 win over Minnesota. Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph caught his first career touchdown as a rookie in the previous contest, a one-yard scoring grab from QB Christian Ponder.
WEEK 3 SEPT. 22
The Vikings will face the Vikings for the fourth consecutive season, including playoffs, the longest streak in series history. Philadelphia will make their first trip back to Minneapolis since defeating New England in Super Bowl LII. Last year's Vikings win in Philadelphia tied the series 14-14 all-time.
WEEK 6 OCT. 13
For the first time since 2016 (vs. Dallas, Dec. 1), the Vikings will host Thursday Night Football at U.S. Bank Stadium. Last year was the first time Minnesota and Washington did not play since 2015. The clubs will rekindle their matchup after a one-year hiatus and ultimately decide who takes over the all-time series (13-13). The last time these two teams played each other the Vikings won 38-30 at Fedex Field in 2017. Familiar faces are slated to play their former team - Vikings QB Kirk Cousins played for Washington from 2012-17, Redskins RB Adrian Peterson played for the Vikings from 2007-16, and Redskins QB Case Keenum played for the Vikings in 2017. Mike Zimmer and Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden were both hired from the 2014 Bengals staff where they served as Defensive and Offensive Coordinator, respectively.
WEEK 8 OCT. 24
The Vikings and Broncos, who met in preseason action in Denver last year, will play for the first time in Minnesota since December 4, 2011. Minnesota will look to redeem their threepoint loss in their most recent regular-season game at Denver in Week 4 of 2015. A win at home will tilt the 7-7 series scale in Minnesota's favor. Minnesota added four offensive coaches to their staff for 2019 who have deep ties to the Broncos - Offensive Line Coach/ Run Game Coordinator Rick Dennison, Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Advisor Gary Kubiak, Quarterbacks Coach Klint Kubiak and Tight Ends Coach Brian Pariani.
WEEK 11 NOV. 17
The 2019 season will close out with three out of the last four games coming against divisional opponents for the first time since the 1996 season. In 2018, the Vikings snagged their first win against the Lions since the opening of U.S. Bank Stadium, beating them 24-9 and setting a new franchise record for the most sacks in a single game, bringing down Lions QB Matthew Stafford 10 times.
WEEK 14 DEC. 8
Green Bay will cross the border to meet Minnesota on Monday Night Football for the first time since October 5, 2009, a 30-23 Vikings win. The Vikings will look to earn their fourth consecutive win at home against the Packers, making it the longest streak since Minnesota won five straight from 1992-1995. The Vikings have won all three home games against the Packers since the opening of U.S. Bank Stadium.
WEEK 16 DEC. 23
For the fourth consecutive year, the Bears will travel to Minnesota to finish out the regular season. This season the Vikings are looking to collect their fourth win in the last six contests against the Bears and improve their 2-1 record at U.S. Bank Stadium against their division foe.
WEEK 17 DEC. 29

WEEK 2 SEPT. 15
WEEK 4 SEPT. 29
WEEK 5 OCT. 6
For the first time in franchise history, the Vikings will travel to Green Bay for a September Week 2 matchup in back-to-back seasons. The 2018 contest resulted in a 29-29 tie, only the third tie in series history and the first since Week 11 in 2013 when the teams knotted at 26-26. In the last three trips to Green Bay, the Vikings are 1-1-1 and hold a 5-1-1 overall in the last seven matchups.
The Vikings head to Soldier Field to face the reigning NFC North champions for the 117th time in franchise history. Minnesota suffered a 20-25 loss after their comeback fell short in last year's matchup. The Week 4 matchup with the Bears and Vikings marks the earliest meeting between the two teams since their Week 2 game in 2013.
Week 5 marks the first time Mike Zimmer will face his former offensive coordinator, Pat Shurmur, who was named the Giants Head Coach prior to the 2018 season. The Vikings will take a trip to MetLife Stadium for the second consecutive season after playing the Jets in Week 7 of 2018. Minnesota is looking for its ninth road win against the Giants and first since 2007. This is the first time the Mike Zimmer-led Vikings will play the Giants at MetLife.
54-60-3 (Overall) 25-32-3 (Road)
60-54-2 23-32-2
16-12 8-7
WEEK 7 OCT. 20
Last year marked the first home and away sweep of Detroit for Minnesota since 2015 and second since Zimmer became head coach. During Zimmer's tenure the Vikings have won three out of the five road matchups against the Lions. In last season's game played at Ford Field, the Vikings defeated the Lions, 27-9, behind a career game from Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph, who grabbed nine receptions for 122 yards and two receiving touchdowns, including a 44-yard Hail Mary as the first half expired.
72-39-2 34-23-1
WEEK 9 NOV. 3
Minnesota last saw Kansas City in 2015, defeating the Chiefs 16-10 at a game played on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The Vikings will look to win their first road game against the Chiefs since the team's very first trip to Kansas City in 1974.
WEEK 10 NOV. 10
This Week 10 contest is the first of two Sunday Night Football appearances for the 2019 Vikings. Mike Zimmer will travel back to Dallas for the first time since being named Head Coach in Minnesota. Zimmer spent 13 years in Dallas as a Defensive Backs Coach (1994-99) and Defensive Coordinator (2000-06). The last time the Cowboys traveled to Minneapolis they beat the Vikings, 17-15, on December 12, 2016. A Minnesota win will be the 15th overall against Dallas.
WEEK 13 DEC. 2
Monday Night Football welcomes the Vikings at Seahawks matchup for the second consectutive year. Since 2012, Seattle has won five consecutive games to take a six-game series lead. A win at CenturyLink Field will mark the first December Monday Night Football victory for Minnesota since 2007, when the team beat Chicago on December 17, 2007.
WEEK 15 DEC. 15
The matchups against the AFC West will conclude during primetime as Minnesota faces the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football. This will be the first time the Vikings face the Chargers since the franchise relocated to Los Angeles in 2017. Dating back to their first matchup in 1971, the teams have traded wins and losses with each meeting. A win over the Chargers would give the Vikings their seventh win and an edge in the series. This is the second year in a row Minnesota will travel to Los Angeles for a game after (at Rams, Sept. 27), marking first time the franchise has traveled to L.A. in back-to-back seasons since the 1992-93 seasons.
