The Wildlife Unit fosters stewardship for NYC Parks, supports healthy urban wildlife populations and promotes quality of

life for all New Yorkers through education, programs, policies, procedures and management plans that encourage coexistence

between people and wildlife in New York City.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

?

Under general direction, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, research, develop and write

educational curricula that supports the work of the Wildlife NYC Team.

Create strategic plans to provide wildlife education for school children throughout the City.

Collaborate with the Urban Park Rangers and other educational divisions to produce collaborative programming and

event opportunities.

Plan and lead trainings for NYC Parks and other City agency staff on wildlife management, conservation and response

policies, plans and procedures.

Plan and lead activities, programs and events focused on Living with Wildlife in NYC as scheduled.

In conjunction with the Marketing Division, develop a marketing strategy and campaign to promote wildlife awareness

citywide.

Develop and produce promotional material that supports the work of the Wildlife Unit.

Assist with special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. High School diploma or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in

an area related to duties described above, or

2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to ¡°1¡±above.

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees

with over two years of city service. New York City residency required for all other candidates.

Bachelor¡¯s degree with a focus in environmental science or education, ecology, wildlife biology or related field.

Experience developing and leading environmental education programs.

Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and organizational skills.

Supervisory and project management experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Valid New York State driver license.
